Any processing of personal data conducted through the eCall in-vehicle system of your Kia EV2 strictly complies with the robust personal data protection rules established under Directives 95/46/EC and 2002/58/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council. In particular, all data handling operations are fundamentally based on the legal necessity to protect the vital life and safety interests of vehicle occupants in accordance with Article 7(d) of Directive 95/46/EC.

The processing and transmission of such sensitive data is strictly limited solely to the purpose of handling emergency eCall communications directed to the single emergency response network.

1) Directive 95/46/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 24 October 1995 on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data (OJ L 281, 23.11.1995, p. 31).

2) Directive 2002/58/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 12 July 2002 concerning the processing of personal data and the protection of privacy in the electronic communications sector (Directive on privacy and electronic communications) (OJ L 201, 31.7.2002, p. 37).

3) Directive 95/46/EC is repealed by Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data (General Data Protection Regulation) (OJ L 119, 4.5.2016, p. 1). The Regulation applies from 25 May 2018.

Types of data and its recipients

To ensure rapid and efficient rescue coordination, the integrated eCall in-vehicle system built into your Kia EV2 may collect and process exclusively the following specific categories of data: Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) Vehicle type designation (passenger vehicle or light commercial vehicle) Vehicle propulsion storage type (petrol, diesel, CNG, LPG, electric, or hydrogen) The vehicle's last three recorded geographic locations and directional heading of travel Activity log file detailing the automatic activation of the system along with its precise timestamp Any additional data (if applicable): Not applicable Authorized recipients of data processed by the eCall in-vehicle system are strictly limited to the relevant public safety answering points (PSAP) designated by the respective public authorities of the country in which the vehicle is currently located, tasked to first receive and handle emergency eCalls...
