For a comprehensive overview covering the eCall in-vehicle system architecture, day-to-day operation, and embedded safety functionality, refer thoroughly to this section. The public eCall service is a universally mandated public safety initiative and remains fully accessible to vehicle owners free of charge.

The eCall in-vehicle system initiates continuous background monitoring for potential emergency triggers as soon as the vehicle ignition is switched to the ON position. The system deploys automatically via sensitive internal restraint and impact sensors in the unfortunate event of a severe collision.

The system will also engage automatically if your Kia EV2 features a supplementary telematics protection setup that would otherwise experience limitations during a severe impact event.

Furthermore, the eCall in-vehicle system can be activated manually by vehicle occupants if emergency intervention is required while traveling. Detailed instructions for manual system activation are outlined in this manual section.

In the rare event of a critical electrical or software malfunction that disables the eCall in-vehicle system, an explicit visual and acoustic warning notification will be presented to the vehicle occupants on the instrument cluster.
