WARNING

Loose objects

Loose objects in the driver’s foot area could interfere with the normal operation of the foot pedals, possibly causing an unexpected accident. Do not place anything under the front seats of your Kia EV2.

CAUTION

Raising a seat upright

Do not press the release lever on a manual seatback without holding and securely controlling the seatback structure. The seatback will spring upright rapidly, possibly impacting you or other passengers.

WARNING

Driver responsibility for passengers

Kia EV2 passenger seat upright posture safety diagram

The driver must advise all passengers to keep their seatbacks in upright positions whenever the vehicle is in motion. If a seat is excessively reclined during an accident, the seat belt restraint system’s ability to protect the passenger is greatly reduced.

WARNING

Driver’s seat

  • Never attempt to adjust the driver's seat whilst the vehicle is moving. This could result in a dangerous loss of control of your Kia EV2.

  • Do not allow anything to interfere with the normal upright position of the seatback. For example, storing rigid items against the seatback could result in serious or fatal injury in a sudden stop or collision.

  • Sit as far back as possible from the steering wheel whilst still maintaining comfortable, secure control of your Kia EV2. A safe distance of at least 25 cm (10 inches) from your chest to the steering wheel center is recommended. Failure to maintain this distance can result in severe air bag inflation injuries to the driver.

WARNING

Rear seatbacks

Always securely lock the rear seatbacks into place before driving your Kia EV2. Failure to do so could result in passengers or heavy cargo being thrown forward during hard braking, severely injuring vehicle occupants.

WARNING

Unexpected seat movement

After manually adjusting a seat, always check that it is securely locked in position by shifting your body weight forward and backward. Sudden or unexpected movement of the driver’s seat could cause you to lose control of the vehicle.

WARNING

Seat adjustment

  • Do not adjust the seat whilst wearing fastened seat belts. Moving the seat forward incorrectly may put dangerous pressure on the abdomen.

  • Do not place your hand near the seat bottom base or track mechanism whilst adjusting the seat. Your fingers or hand could get caught and injured in the moving mechanical parts.

WARNING

Luggage and cargo

Do not stack or pile luggage or cargo higher than the top of the seatback in the rear cargo area. In an accident, loose cargo could strike and injure a passenger. If objects are large, heavy, or must be piled high, secure them properly in the cargo area.

WARNING

Cargo area

Do not allow passengers to ride in the rear cargo area under any circumstances. The cargo area is solely designed and intended for transporting luggage or cargo, not human occupants.

CAUTION

Small objects

Use extreme caution when picking up small objects trapped under the seats or between the seat cushion and the centre console. Your hands might be cut or injured by hidden sharp edges of the internal seat mechanism.

NOTE

Precautions with seat covers

Use caution when installing or working on custom seat covers. An electrical short circuit or disconnection may occur, which could cause abnormal noise or damage the integrated seat ventilation system.

WARNING

Seat short circuit risk

Be fully aware of internal wiring harnesses or floor air vents when placing a seat cover or covering the seats with protective plastic. Electrical short circuits and blocked climate vents can cause permanent component damage and could potentially lead to a fire hazard.
