Kia EV2: Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) / Low tyre pressure indicator light

Whenever the integrated Tyre Pressure Monitoring System warning indicators illuminate on your dashboard, it serves as a critical notification that one or more of your vehicle tyres is experiencing significant under-inflation.

Low tyre pressure warning status

When the tyre pressure monitoring system warning indicators illuminate and a corresponding warning message appears on the digital instrument cluster of your Kia EV2, it confirms that one or more tyres are critically under-inflated. The specific low tyre pressure position telltale light instantly pinpoints the exact wheel location by illuminating its corresponding position indicator on the screen.

If either telltale warns you of a pressure drop while operating your Kia EV2, immediately reduce your driving speed, steer clear of aggressive hard cornering maneuvers, and anticipate noticeably increased braking stopping distances. You should safely pull over and inspect your tyres at the earliest opportunity. Inflate every affected tyre precisely to the correct recommended pressure values indicated on the official vehicle placard or tyre inflation pressure label located on the driver's or front passenger's side centre pillar outer panel. If you are unable to reach a nearby service station or if a damaged tyre fails to retain newly added air, replace the low-pressure assembly with your spare tyre immediately.

If you drive your Kia EV2 for approximately 10 minutes at consistent speeds exceeding 25 km/h (16 mph) after installing the spare tyre in place of a low-pressure wheel, one of the following system behaviors will occur:

• The TPMS malfunction indicator light may blink continuously for approximately 1 minute and then remain solidly illuminated because the active TPMS sensor is not currently mounted on the spare wheel, while the changed tyre equipped with its sensor remains outside the vehicle cabin.

Never continue driving your Kia EV2 on severely under-inflated tyres. Significantly reduced tyre pressure generates excessive internal friction, causing tyres to overheat and suffer catastrophic structural failure, which makes the vehicle highly unstable and results in dangerously extended braking distances and an ultimate loss of driver control.

Environmental pressure variations

• During cold winter weather or sudden ambient temperature drops, the low tyre pressure telltale may unexpectedly illuminate if your tyre pressures were originally calibrated and adjusted during warm weather conditions. This behavior does not indicate a system malfunction; rather, lower atmospheric temperatures naturally cause a corresponding decrease in internal tyre pressure.

• Whenever you drive your Kia EV2 from a warm climate region into a cold region, or vice versa, or whenever significant outside temperature swings occur, you should proactively check your tyre inflation pressures and readjust them back to the manufacturer's recommended values.

• When inflating tyres with compressed air, the exact conditions required to turn off the low tyre pressure telltale might occasionally not be met right away due to minor performance margins of error inherent in portable tyre inflators. The low tyre pressure telltale will automatically extinguish once the internal tyre pressure safely exceeds the baseline recommended inflation threshold.
