Kia EV2: Opening and closing / Wide sunroof: (if equipped)

Kia EV2 (QV1, 2026-2026) Owner's Manual / Opening and closing / Wide sunroof: (if equipped)

If your vehicle is equipped with a premium wide sunroof, you can conveniently slide, tilt, or adjust your sunroof using the dedicated overhead console control switches inside the Kia EV2 cabin.

You can only operate the sunroof when the EV button is turned to the POWER ON or DRIVE READY position.

For your convenience, you can continue to operate the sunroof for approximately 3 minutes after switching the EV button to the OFF position. However, if you open either of the front doors during this 3-minute grace period, power to the windows and sunroof will immediately be cut off for safety.

WARNING

  • Always operate the sunroof while the vehicle is completely stationary. Adjusting the sunroof while driving your Kia EV2 can distract you from the road and lead to an accident.

  • When stepping away from the vehicle even for a brief moment, always power down the vehicle and take the key fob with you to prevent children from accidentally operating the sunroof controls.

  • Never sit directly on the sunroof glass or place heavy objects on top of the roof structure, as this can cause permanent cracks or structural damage.

TIP

Never attempt to operate the sunroof when crossbars or roof racks are installed, or when luggage or cargo is secured on top of the vehicle roof.

Power sunshade

Use the automatic power sunshade to effectively block intense direct sunlight streaming through the expansive sunroof glass of your Kia EV2.

  • Push the overhead sunroof switch backward to the first detent position, and the power sunshade will slide open smoothly.

  • Push the sunroof switch forward to the first detent position to close the power sunshade. If the sunroof glass happens to be open, it will automatically close first before the shade covers the opening.

To halt the movement of the power sunshade at any intermediate position, simply tap or push the sunroof switch in any direction.

NOTE

  • Never manually push or pull the power sunshade by hand, as forcing the mechanism can strip the internal gears and cause permanent malfunction.

TIP

Slight wrinkles appearing on the fabric of the sunshade are completely normal and characteristic of the lightweight material utilized.

Tilt open or close

  • Push the sunroof switch upward to tilt the rear edge of the sunroof glass open for gentle ventilation. If the interior power sunshade is closed, it will automatically retract first.

  • Push the sunroof switch upward or forward while the sunroof glass is tilted to return it to the fully closed position.

To freeze the tilting motion at any desired height, briefly push the sunroof switch in any direction.

Slide open or close

  • Push the sunroof switch backward to the first position to open the sunroof glass incrementally. If the interior sunshade is closed, it will slide back out of the way before the glass begins to move.

Push the sunroof switch forward to the first position to close the glass step-by-step. If the glass is already shut, this action closes the sunshade.

  • Push the sunroof switch forward or backward past the resistance point into the second position to engage the auto slide feature, causing both the sunshade and sunroof glass to open or close completely in one touch.

To stop the automatic sliding movement at any point, nudge the sunroof switch in any direction.

Automatic reversal

If the moving power sunshade or sunroof glass encounters any physical resistance or obstruction while closing automatically, it will immediately reverse direction and back away before stopping at a safe position.

Please note that this sensitive auto-reversal safety function may occasionally fail to trigger if very thin, soft, or pliable objects are caught between the sliding glass edge and the window frame sash.

WARNING

  • Always ensure that heads, hands, arms, and any other body parts or foreign objects are completely clear of the opening before operating the sunroof controls of your Kia EV2 to avoid painful pinching injuries or damage to the vehicle.

  • Never deliberately test the automatic reversal safety feature using your fingers, hands, or other body parts, as severe injury can still occur before the mechanism engages and reverses.

NOTE

  • Avoid holding down or continuously pushing the sunroof switch after the glass has already reached its fully opened, closed, or tilted limits, as sustained pressure can overheat and damage the electric sunroof motor.

  • Performing rapid, continuous sliding or tilting operations back-to-back can overload the electrical system and cause temporary malfunctions in the sunroof module.

  • Make it a habit to regularly brush away accumulated dust, leaves, and debris from the exterior sunroof tracks and rubber seals.

  • Periodically open the sunroof and clean the hidden gap between the glass panel and the vehicle roof using a soft, damp cloth.

  • Never attempt to force open the sunroof when sub-zero freezing temperatures are present or if the roof panel is coated in ice and snow, as forcing frozen seals can shatter the glass or strip the drive mechanism.

  • Do not leave the sunroof open or drive with it open immediately following heavy rain or a car wash to prevent water from splashing into the interior cabin.

  • Do not stick large luggage or long objects out through the open sunroof while driving, as sudden braking or maneuvers can result in severe vehicle damage.

WARNING

Never extend your head, arms, upper body, or unsecured items outside through the sunroof opening while the Kia EV2 is moving, as sudden traffic stops can cause catastrophic injuries.

Resetting юбилея sunroof

In certain routine maintenance scenarios, you may find it necessary to recalibrate and reset the electronic sunroof system of your Kia EV2. Common situations requiring a reset procedure include:

  • When the 12V vehicle battery has been disconnected, replaced, or completely discharged

  • Whenever the dedicated sunroof fuse has been inspected or replaced due to an electrical interruption

  • If the one-touch AUTO open and close features of the sunroof fail to operate smoothly or lose their synchronized memory calibration

Sunroof resetting procedure:

  1. Start the vehicle and ensure the gear selector is firmly in the P (Park) position. For best electrical stability, it is strongly recommended to perform this reset procedure while the vehicle system is fully powered and running.

  2. Make sure that both the internal power sunshade and the exterior sunroof glass are completely closed. If either component is currently open, press and hold the overhead switch forward until both the sunshade and sunroof glass reach their fully closed mechanical limits.

  3. Release the switch immediately once the power sunshade and sunroof glass are completely closed.

  4. Push the overhead switch forward once more and hold it until the power sunshade and sunroof glass shift slightly to acknowledge the command, then release the switch.

  5. Finally, push and hold the sunroof switch forward continuously until the sunroof glass automatically slides open and closed through a complete diagnostic cycle. Do not let go of the switch until the entire automatic sequence finishes.

If you accidentally release the switch before the cycle concludes, you will need to restart the calibration process from step 2.

    NOTE

If the sunroof fails to accept the reset calibration following a battery disconnection, power loss, or fuse replacement, the sunroof module may require professional electrical inspection.

Sunroof open warning

If the sunroof of your Kia EV2 is left even partially open when you turn off the vehicle ignition, an audible warning chime will sound for several seconds, accompanied by a clear notification prompt on the driver instrument cluster display.

Always double-check and close the sunroof securely before stepping away from your vehicle.

NOTE

Make it a priority to ensure the sunroof is completely shut whenever you park and leave your Kia EV2 unattended. Leaving the roof panel open invites potential security risks and allows sudden rain or snowstorms to soak the interior upholstery.
