Opening charging door
Gently press the rear outer edge of the charging door to unlatch the spring-loaded mechanism. Note that the charging door will remain locked and will not open if the vehicle doors are currently locked.
Pull the charging door cover outward and fully open toward the front of the vehicle to access the charging port.
Closing charging door
Close the charging door panel and press it inward gently until it clicks flush into its original closed position, verifying that the latch holds securely.
WARNING
Never walk away and leave your Kia EV2 parked with the charging door open, as an open flap signals an unlocked charging bay and can compromise vehicle security.
NOTE
If the charging door refuses to open because frost or ice has accumulated around the seals during cold weather, tap lightly on the outer panel to break the bond. You can use body warmth or move the vehicle into a heated garage to thaw the ice safely. Never use sharp tools, metal scrapers, or excessive force to pry open a frozen charging door.
Always verify that the charging door is completely closed before driving off. Leaving the door open exposes delicate mechanical hinges to road debris, dust, and moisture, and the charging assembly cannot be sealed properly without securing the internal inlet cover first.
Once you finish closing the charging door panel, glance at the dashboard to make sure any associated charging warning indicators have turned off.
After completing your vehicle charging session, always snap the internal rubber charging inlet cover tightly into place. Failing to seal the inlet cover properly can cause long-term moisture damage to the port and outer door.
When washing your Kia EV2 at a manual bay or automatic wash station, avoid aiming high-pressure water jets directly at the charging door seam, as intense pressure can bypass the seals and harm internal electronic components.
For additional instructions and connector specifications, refer to the dedicated charging types section of your manual.
CAUTION
The charging door swings outward toward the rear/side. Always inspect your surroundings before opening or closing it to avoid striking your head, fingers, or clothing against the edge.
Do not pull or place undue physical strain on the delicate hinge arm, as this can twist the assembly and cause permanent alignment failure.
Wide sunroof: (if equipped)If equipped, this automatic dimming mirror provides a wide angle camera view of the area behind the vehicle.
