Opening/closing the front trunk

Kia EV2 front trunk storage compartment under the bonnet
  • Access the front trunk storage area of your Kia EV2 by pulling the interior bonnet release lever to open the hood.

For detailed instructions regarding hood operation, refer to the bonnet section.

  • Close and secure the bonnet properly after accessing or loading items into the front trunk.

TIP

Available front trunk weight

  • MAX 10 kg (22 lbs.)

The maximum permissible load capacity of the front trunk may vary depending on specific vehicle options and trim configurations.

WARNING

  • Never attempt to climb inside or ride within the front trunk compartment, as doing so can result in fatal injuries.

  • Always check for nearby obstructions before opening or closing the bonnet. Because the hood moves automatically past certain points, keep your face, head, hands, and feet clear to avoid impact injuries. Additionally, avoid storing flammable items like gas lighters or aerosol sprays in the front trunk during high outdoor temperatures, as direct sunlight on the airtight compartment can cause extreme heat buildup and explosion risks.

CAUTION

  • Do not exceed the designated weight limit of the front trunk, as overloading can permanently deform or damage the storage tub.

  • Avoid placing sharp, oversized, or improperly sized objects inside the front trunk, as sudden stops or vehicle collisions could puncture the walls and damage contents.

  • Do not store valuables or cash in the front trunk.

  • Stored cargo may shift during driving maneuvers. Ensure items susceptible to breakage or loud rattling noises are packed securely to prevent impact against the compartment walls.

  • Do not leave plastic items such as eyeglasses, sunglasses, or plastic cards in the front trunk during hot weather, because intense solar heat trapped in the enclosed space can warp or melt them.

  • Avoid storing perishable food items in the front trunk, as elevated temperatures during extended trips can cause food to spoil quickly.

  • Distribute cargo evenly across the floor of the front trunk rather than piling everything to one side, and load no more than 5 kg (10 lbs.) onto the 12V battery service cover.

  • Place items gently into the front trunk rather than dropping them, as severe impacts can crack or break the molded storage liner.

  • Do not overload the front trunk cargo net with bulky or heavy objects for extended periods, which can cause the mesh to stretch out or sag permanently.

  • Do not store fragile or delicate glassware in the front trunk.

  • Always ensure the front trunk compartment and bonnet are securely closed before driving, as unsecured cargo can become hazardous during rapid braking, sharp turns, or accidents.

  • If a smart key is accidentally left inside the front trunk when you attempt to close the bonnet, an alert chime will sound and the hood will automatically pop back open. Always verify the location of your keys if this occurs.
