Kia EV2: Opening and closing / Bonnet

Kia EV2 (QV1, 2026-2026) Owner's Manual / Opening and closing / Bonnet

The bonnet acts as a secure protective cover for the motor and front electrical compartments of your Kia EV2.

Open the bonnet whenever routine maintenance work needs to be performed in the motor room or when you need to inspect internal fluid reservoirs and components.

Opening the bonnet

  1. Pull the interior primary release lever (1) located near the footwell to unlatch the bonnet mechanism. The bonnet will pop open slightly with an audible click.

  2. Walk to the front of the vehicle, raise the bonnet slightly, reach under the center front edge to push the secondary safety release lever, and lift the panel fully.

  3. Lift the bonnet upward. Integrated gas struts will take over and smoothly raise it to the fully open position automatically after it passes the halfway point.

Bonnet open warning

A dedicated security warning message appears clearly on the digital instrument cluster display whenever the bonnet is left unlatched or open.

The visual warning reminder remains active on the LCD display until the bonnet is firmly closed and latched.

An audible warning chime will also sound if you attempt to drive the vehicle while the bonnet is improperly secured.

Closing the bonnet

  1. Before closing the bonnet of your Kia EV2, perform a quick final inspection to ensure the following conditions are met:

    • All fluid reservoir filler caps in the motor compartment must be securely and correctly installed.

    • Any maintenance gloves, shop rags, tools, or combustible materials must be completely removed from the motor room.

  2. Lower the bonnet until it is about halfway down, then press downward firmly to engage the primary and secondary latches securely in place.

  3. Verify that the bonnet has latched completely. If you find the panel can still be lifted slightly, it means the lock is not fully engaged; open it again and re-close it using slightly more downward force.

CAUTION

Bonnet obstruction

Always verify that all foreign objects and physical obstructions are cleared from the latch area before closing the bonnet. Slamming the hood down over an obstruction can cause severe structural damage to your vehicle or personal injury.

WARNING

Fire risk

Never leave wiping rags, protective gloves, or other flammable materials inside the motor compartment, as retained engine bay heat can easily ignite them.

Unsecured bonnet

Always double-check to ensure the bonnet is firmly and completely latched before driving off. An unsecured bonnet can fly open unexpectedly while the Kia EV2 is in motion, completely obscuring the driver's forward visibility and causing a dangerous accident.
