Kia EV2: Driver assistance guide / Lane Following Assist (LFA)

• Towing a heavy trailer, caravan, or mounting an external carrier can negatively impact vehicle handling stability. If necessary under challenging conditions, disable the function and always drive your Kia EV2 with extreme caution.

• Never operate the active assistance systems when towing another vehicle or when auxiliary equipment that impairs sensor calibration or vehicle weight distribution is attached.

• When connecting a trailer or equipment carrier, make sure to configure the dedicated trailer menu settings accordingly. If manual settings are misconfigured or trailer integration fails to register properly, driver assistance functions may experience operational limitations. Refer to the driver assistance system limitations section and maintain high vigilance.

• Customizations made to your Warning Methods settings typically apply globally to the warning notifications of other integrated driver assistance systems across your Kia EV2.

• The system intelligently retains your last selected Warning Methods preferences even after you turn OFF and subsequently restart the vehicle.

• Depending on the specific trim level and regional specifications, the Warning Methods setting menu may vary or not be available on all vehicles.

• If the driver unfastens their seat belt while driving at speeds of 20 km/h (12 mph) or higher, Lane Following Assist will automatically disengage for safety reasons.

• Lane Following Assist cannot be turned on or activated if the driver's seat belt remains unbuckled.

• If the vehicle's Emergency Stop function activates, consult the Emergency Stop (ES) documentation for specific operating limitations affecting Lane Keeping Assist and related functions.

During active operation of your Kia EV2, the following important warning notifications may occasionally appear on the instrument cluster:

• Keep hands on steering wheel

• Lane Following Assist Cancelled

When the steering wheel is not being assisted, the white indicator light () blinks and changes to gray.

• When Lane Keeping Assist reaches its system limit, the indicator light will flash in white and a warning chime will sound.

  • System limit: When the driver’s hands are off the steering wheel and a lane departure occurs whilst Lane Keeping Assist is operating.

• Lane Keeping Assist may not operate or may operate abnormally when driving through sharp curves.

• Lane Following Assist may not assist with steering if you hold the steering wheel very tight or steer it over a certain degree.

• Lane Following Assist does not operate at all times. It is your responsibility to safely steer your Kia EV2 and stay in your lane.

• The hands-off warning message may appear late depending on road conditions. Always keep your hands on the steering wheel whilst driving.

• If you attach objects to the steering wheel, the hands-off warning may not work properly.

• If you wear gloves or hold the steering wheel lightly, Lane Following Assist may not detect your hands on the steering wheel and may display the hands-off warning.

• When both lane markings are detected, the lane lines on the instrument cluster change from gray to white.

• The images or colours may display differently depending on the specifications of the instrument cluster or theme.

• If lane markings are not detected, steering wheel assistance by Lane Following Assist may be limited depending on whether a vehicle is ahead or on the driving conditions of the vehicle.

• You can control the steering wheel even when Lane Following Assist assists with steering.

• The steering wheel may feel heavier or lighter than usual when Lane Following Assist assists with steering.

You can check the Lane Following Assist warning message in the utility information view of the instrument cluster display window.

• Loading freight exceeding the maximum load or placing freight unevenly may undermine driving safety in your Kia EV2. This may also prevent Lane Following Assist from operating properly.
