Kia EV2: Tyres and wheels / Tyre replacement

Kia EV2 (QV1, 2026-2026) Owner's Manual / Maintenance / Tyres and wheels / Tyre replacement

When tyres experience uniform and gradual wear over time, a built-in tread wear indicator will eventually become visible as a solid rubber band running across the width of the tread profile on your Kia EV2.

  1. Tread wear indicator

This critical safety indicator signifies that there is now less than 1.6 mm (1/16 inches) of remaining tread depth left on the tyre surface. You must replace the tyre immediately once this indicator becomes apparent to maintain proper road grip and safety.

Do not wait for the solid warning band to manifest all the way across the entire continuous tread before scheduling a tyre replacement.

The Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) and Electronic Stability Control (ESC) on your Kia EV2 operate by constantly monitoring and comparing individual wheel speeds. Because tyre dimensions directly influence rotational wheel speed during travel, replacing your tyres requires ensuring that all four tyres match the exact dimensions and specifications supplied originally with the vehicle. Installing mismatched or incorrect tyre sizes can disrupt wheel speed ratios and prevent the ABS and ESC safety systems from functioning accurately.

It is always best practice to replace all four tyres simultaneously to maintain balanced vehicle dynamics. If replacing a full set is not immediately necessary or feasible, you should replace either the two front tyres or the two rear tyres together as a matched pair. Replacing just a single individual tyre can severely compromise your vehicle's handling stability and response.

Tyre replacement note

When replacing the tyres on your Kia EV2, always select the exact same type and specification of tyres originally supplied with the vehicle to avoid negatively impacting driving performance, energy efficiency, and safety.
