The Collision Warning feature can actively alert you using a combination of the Forward Safety warning light blinking (Forward safety flashing icon indicator in the Kia EV2 instrument panel), a clear visual warning message on the cluster, an audible tone, and distinct steering wheel vibration.

Collision Warning operates seamlessly when the preceding vehicle, obstacle, or road user moves within specific operating speed parameters:

  • The detected lead vehicle or motorcyclist traveling speed ranges approximately from 10 to 200 km/h (6 to 124 mph).

  • The detected vulnerable pedestrian or cyclist traveling speed ranges approximately from 10 to 85 km/h (6 to 53 mph).

Emergency Braking can promptly alert you via the Forward Safety warning light blinking (Brake safety hazard warning icon for the Kia EV2 driver display), a critical warning message, an audible alarm, and haptic steering wheel vibration.

Emergency Braking can be dynamically activated depending on oncoming traffic objects and evaluated hazard risk levels under these precise operational parameters:

  • Vehicle or motorcyclist *:

    Weak braking power

    10-200 km/h (6-124 mph)

    Strong braking power

    10-130 km/h (6-80 mph)

    10-85 km/h (6-53 mph)

    *: If the advanced safety computer on the Kia EV2 determines that an impending collision cannot be safely avoided merely by steering around due to surrounding road constraints, early collision warnings and proactive braking assistance are deployed. When confronting a stationary target, the active system may operate at vehicle speeds between approximately 10 and 100 km/h (6 and 62 mph) when so equipped.

  • Pedestrian or cyclist detection parameters operate effectively within 10-80 km/h (6-50 mph).

  • Active intervention occurs immediately if the moving or stationary object enters the calibrated operational sensor range of the Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist architecture.

CAUTION

  • The functional operational range and reaction limits of the system may decrease due to severe weather, heavy preceding traffic, or complex peripheral surroundings.

  • When driving at night or in low-visibility environments, camera and radar detection capabilities for motorcycles are diminished, meaning the system may face temporary limitations or restricted functionality.

If Emergency Braking successfully brings your Kia EV2 to a complete stop, a dedicated safety warning message pops up on the digital instrument cluster.

For absolute safety assurance, you should immediately press down on the brake pedal yourself and carefully inspect the surrounding traffic environment.

Active hydraulic brake control automatically concludes approximately 2 seconds after Emergency Braking halts your vehicle.

TIP

Simply press the physical hazard lights dashboard button to temporarily mute and turn OFF the repetitive warning sound during active collision warnings and emergency braking sequences.

    When the approaching vehicle is a long distance away, the image in the main mirror is small and near the inboard edge of the mirror. As the vehicle gets closer, the image in the main mirror gets larger and moves outboard. As the vehicle enters the blind zone, the image transitions from the main mirror to the blind spot mirror.
