Basic function
![]() |
Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist implemented in the modern Kia EV2 can comprehensively detect a vehicle, a motorcyclist, pedestrian, or cyclist ahead on the road and may warn you of a possible collision with a warning message on the instrument cluster and an audible warning sound. Also, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist may assist with braking your vehicle dynamically to help reduce collision speed or completely avoid a potential collision in urban and highway environments.
Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist can accurately detect vehicles ahead of you and in adjacent lanes even at high cruising speeds. If the driver makes a sudden or unsafe lane change at those speeds, your vehicle may automatically apply emergency braking to mitigate or avoid a collision: (if equipped)
Junction Turning function

When you turn left at a crossroad with the turn signal ON, Junction Turning can apply emergency braking to help you safely avoid a collision with an oncoming vehicle, motorcyclist, or cyclist in an opposing lane.
Direct Oncoming function
![]() |
|
Direct Oncoming function can help reduce the severity and speed of a collision when it detects a vehicle or motorcyclist approaching rapidly from the opposite direction.
Junction Crossing function: (if equipped)
![]() |
Junction Crossing function can apply precise emergency braking to help mitigate or avoid a collision with cross-traffic vehicles approaching on your left or right side when you navigate through an intersection.
Lane-Change Oncoming function: (if equipped)

|
When changing lanes in your Kia EV2, Lane-Change Oncoming can assist with active steering adjustments to help mitigate or avoid a collision with an unexpected oncoming vehicle or motorcyclist.
Lane-Change Side function: (if equipped)

Approaching car from side
When changing lanes, Lane-Change Side can provide crucial steering support to help mitigate or avoid a side-impact collision with vehicles or motorcyclists travelling in the adjacent lane.
Evasive Steering Assist function: (if equipped)

Driver Steering Assist
If your Kia EV2 detects a possible front collision with a vehicle, pedestrian, or cyclist, Driver Steering Assist can actively assist you in steering away to clear the obstacle and avoid the collision.
Evasive Steering Assist
Evasive Steering Assist can help mitigate or avoid a collision with a vulnerable pedestrian or cyclist in the same lane ahead of you. If your vehicle detects an imminent risk of collision, Evasive Steering Assist can warn you and provide responsive steering assistance the moment you initiate a corrective turn on the steering wheel.
Detection sensor
Please refer to Detecting sensor(s) for the applicable sensors and their exact locations across the vehicle body.
CAUTION
Never damage, modify, or disassemble the detection sensor or integrated sensor assembly.
If the detection sensors have been replaced or repaired, have your vehicle inspected by a professional workshop. Kia recommends visiting an authorised Kia dealer or service partner.
If the vehicle experiences a physical impact to or around the radar housing, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist may not operate properly, even if the instrument cluster does not display a warning message. Have your vehicle inspected by a professional workshop. Kia recommends visiting an authorised Kia dealer or service partner.
Never tint the glass, apply aftermarket films, or install any unauthorized accessories or stickers on the windscreen.
Be extremely careful to keep the front view camera clean and dry at all times.
Never place any reflective objects (for example, white paper or a mirror) over the instrument cluster dashboard.
Do not place any objects near or install any accessories on the windscreen. This can adversely affect the performance of the climate control system’s defogging and defrosting functions, which may prevent the advanced Driver Assistance systems from operating correctly.
Do not apply a license plate frame or attach any objects (such as a bumper sticker, protective film, or a heavy bumper guard) near the front radar cover.
Always keep the front radar cover clean and free of dirt, mud, and road debris. Use only a soft microfiber cloth to wash the vehicle. Do not spray high-pressure water directly onto the sensor or sensor cover.
If you apply custom paint or alter the front, front corner, and/or rear corner radar sensor covers, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist may fail to function properly. Use only genuine Kia replacement parts or components of an equivalent standard with proven quality and performance to repair or replace the radar sensor covers.
The safety function may not work properly if the bumper was replaced, or if the surroundings of the front corner radar or rear corner radar were structurally damaged or repainted.
If you install a towing trailer or external carrier, this may adversely affect the performance of Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist and prevent it from operating properly under loaded driving conditions.

Never leave a child, a helpless adult, or a pet alone in a vehicle, especially with the windows closed in warm or hot weather. They can be overcome by the extreme heat and suffer permanent injuries or even death from heat stroke.
