Kia EV2: Opening and closing / Immobiliser system

The advanced immobiliser system provides robust multi-layered protection to safeguard your Kia EV2 against unauthorized entry and theft. If an improperly coded key, cloned transponder, or unauthorized electronic device is detected, the vehicle’s high-voltage power system is instantly disabled.

When you place the EV button in the POWER ON position, the immobiliser system indicator should come on briefly and then go off. If the indicator starts to blink persistently, the system does not recognise the coding of the key.

Place the EV button in the OFF position, pause for a moment, and then place the EV button back into the POWER ON position to restart the authentication handshake.

If the security system repeatedly fails to recognise your key’s unique cryptographic coding, contact a professional workshop immediately. Kia recommends visiting an authorised Kia dealer or service partner for diagnostic inspection.

Do not attempt to alter, modify, or integrate unauthorized third-party electronic devices into this security architecture, as this could introduce severe electrical faults that may render your vehicle completely inoperable.

Deactivating the immobiliser system

Turn the EV button to the POWER ON position with a valid authorized key inside the cabin to automatically deactivate the immobiliser.

Activating the immobiliser system

Change the EV button to the OFF position and exit the vehicle. The immobiliser system activates automatically. Without a valid smart key for your Kia EV2 present inside the cabin, the vehicle will refuse to start.

NOTE

When starting the vehicle, do not place multiple transponder keys or electronic key fobs in close proximity to each other. Signal overlapping can cause authentication conflicts, preventing the vehicle from starting or causing an unexpected shutdown shortly after engagement. Always keep individual keys separated to avoid system malfunctions.

• Electrical malfunctions, failures, or operational errors caused by unauthorized modifications, hardware adjustments, or improper wiring alterations to the immobiliser system are strictly excluded from your vehicle manufacturer warranty coverage.

• Never attempt to bypass this security network or connect unauthorized secondary aftermarket hardware modules, as severe electrical conflicts could permanently disable your vehicle.
