Kia EV2 (QV1, 2026-2026) Owner's Manual / Opening and closing / Theft-alarm system

The advanced theft-alarm system provides comprehensive protection from unauthorised entry into your Kia EV2, safeguarding your vehicle and personal belongings wherever you park.

To ensure maximum security and intuitive operation, this sophisticated perimeter protection system functions seamlessly across 3 distinct operational stages:

  2. Disarmed stage

  3. Theft-alarm stage

If an intrusion attempt is detected while the system is fully active, the theft-alarm sounds continuously and the exterior hazard warning lights blink to alert bystanders.

CAUTION

  • Do not change, alter or adjust the theft-alarm system because it could cause the theft-alarm system to malfunction. In this case, have the system serviced by a professional workshop. Kia recommends visiting an authorised Kia dealer or service partner.

  • Malfunctions caused by improper alterations, adjustments or modifications to the theft-alarm system are not covered by your vehicle manufacturer warranty.

  • Do not attempt to alter this system or add other devices to it. Electrical problems could result that may make your vehicle inoperable.

Armed stage

After you park your Kia EV2 and prepare to leave the vehicle, follow these structured steps to properly arm the theft-alarm system:

Using the smart key

Bring your vehicle to a complete stop, switch off all active driving systems, and ensure the cabin is empty before arming the security perimeter as described below.

  1. Press the EV button to place the vehicle power system in the OFF position.

  2. Make sure that all passenger doors, the bonnet, and the rear tailgate are completely closed and securely latched.

  3. To lock the doors externally, press the physical button located on either front outside door handle while keeping the authorized smart key in your immediate possession.

  4. After you complete these steps, the hazard warning lights blink once to indicate that the security system is successfully armed. If any door, the tailgate, or the bonnet remains open or ajar, the theft-alarm system will refuse to arm, the hazard warning lights will not blink, and the confirmation chime will remain silent. You can also arm the system by using the mechanical key blade to lock the doors; however, the hazard warning lights will not blink during this mechanical action.

  5. Alternatively, press the dedicated lock button directly on your smart key fob to secure the doors from a short distance.

Once these steps are completed, the hazard warning lights blink once to confirm that the security system is fully armed.

    NOTE

The theft-alarm system can be deactivated by an authorised Kia dealer or service partner if required.

If you want this feature permanently deactivated, contact a professional workshop. Kia recommends visiting an authorised Kia dealer or service partner for authorized programming changes.

    NOTE

Do not arm the system until all passengers have completely left the vehicle cabin. If the security system is armed whilst occupants remain inside, the high-decibel alarm may trigger when those remaining passengers subsequently exit. If you open any door, the tailgate, or the bonnet within a 30-second window after the system is armed, the system will automatically disarm to prevent unnecessary false alarms.

Theft-alarm stage

The high-decibel alarm sounds and the hazard warning lights blink continuously for approximately 30 seconds if any of the following unauthorized security breaches occur whilst the system is armed:

  • You open any front or rear passenger door without first using the authorized smart key or digital access method.

  • You open the rear tailgate without an authorized smart key present or verified.

  • You force or open the front bonnet compartment.

Unless the system is actively disarmed by the owner, the horn sounds, the hazard warning lights continue blinking for approximately 27 seconds, and then the horn sounds in 3 distinct bursts. To turn the system OFF and halt the alarm, unlock the doors using either the mechanical key blade or the authorized smart key fob.

Disarmed stage

The security system automatically disarms when specific authorized unlock conditions are met:

  • You press the central door unlock button inside or outside the vehicle.

  • You press the exterior button on the front outside door handle while having the authorized smart key in your possession.

  • You successfully start the vehicle power system within a 3-second authentication window.

After you press the unlock button, the hazard warning lights will flash, and an audible chime will sound twice (integrated within the smart key feedback) to indicate that the security system has successfully disarmed.

After you press the unlock button, if you fail to open any passenger door or the tailgate within 30 seconds, the security system will automatically rearm itself for safety.

NOTE

  • Avoid trying to start the vehicle whilst the security alarm is actively sounding. The vehicle starting motor and power circuits are completely disabled during the theft-alarm stage to prevent unauthorized driving.

  • If you lose your keys or require emergency reprogramming for your Kia EV2, Kia recommends visiting an authorised Kia dealer or service partner.

NOTE

Adjusting alarm system

  • Do not change, alter or adjust the immobiliser system because it could cause the immobiliser system to malfunction. In this case, have the system serviced by a professional workshop. Kia recommends visiting an authorised Kia dealer or service partner.

  • Malfunctions caused by improper alterations, adjustments or modifications to the immobiliser system are not covered by your vehicle manufacturer warranty.

  • Do not attempt to alter this system or add other devices to it. Electrical problems could result that may make your vehicle inoperable.
