Kia EV2: Digital Key 2 : (if equipped) / Limitations of the System

Kia EV2 (QV1, 2026-2026) Owner's Manual / Opening and closing / Keys / Digital Key 2 : (if equipped) / Limitations of the System

  • Digital Key 2 functionality on your Kia EV2 may occasionally experience interruptions or fail to operate if any of the following technical conditions occur:

    • The internal battery of your smartphone or the main 12V vehicle battery is completely discharged or critically low

    • Near Field Communication (NFC) or Bluetooth wireless modules are disabled within your smartphone system settings

    • A payment credit card is stored directly against the back glass of your smartphone, or you are using a metallic enclosure or overly thick protective phone case

    • The physical card key is packed tightly alongside other magnetic cards, leather wallets, or metallic card holders during operation

    • Strong electromagnetic interference is present near high-voltage power lines, broadcasting towers, or other electronic infrastructure

    • There may be a communication error with Digital Key 2 NFC function if the metallic cover or communication device is attached to the smartphone. If there is a malfunction of Digital Key 2, remove the cover attached to the smartphone and try again.

  • Remote vehicle control and seamless automated recognition via your smartphone may be restricted under specific operating scenarios:

    • Core system background tasks of the mobile operating system are actively prioritizing high-priority voice calls, emergency communications, high-bitrate audio streaming, or secure NFC contactless financial transactions

    • Wireless Bluetooth earphones or headsets are actively handling telephone calls, emergency voice channels, or multimedia audio streams

    • The background execution privileges of the Digital Key 2 mobile application are being restricted by aggressive battery optimization settings or manufacturer-specific app launch priority policies

NOTE

If you carry a UWB-enabled smartphone registered as a digital key within the Bluetooth connection range of your Kia EV2 for an extended period, low-voltage battery consumption may occur due to continuous background handshaking.

To prevent unnecessary 12V battery drain when parked near your vehicle, turn off the passive entry feature of the digital key directly from within your smartphone wallet application settings.
