Kia EV2: Maintenance / Brake fluid. Checking the brake fluid level

Kia EV2 (QV1, 2026-2026) Owner's Manual / Maintenance / Brake fluid. Checking the brake fluid level

Maintaining clean, high-grade hydraulic fluid is essential for the reliable stopping performance and overall safety of the braking systems equipped on the Kia EV2.

Checking the brake fluid level

Routinely inspect the hydraulic brake fluid level inside the translucent reservoir of your Kia EV2 to ensure the braking system remains fully responsive and safe under all driving conditions. The fluid level should always sit steadily between the MIN and MAX indicator lines embossed clearly on the exterior side of the reservoir container.

Ensure the surrounding engine bay environment is completely clean before opening the reservoir cap on your Kia EV2 to prevent any particulate contamination.

  1. To prevent dangerous brake fluid contamination, meticulously clean the entire surrounding area around the reservoir cap before removing it to add fresh fluid.
  2. Periodically check that the fluid level in the brake fluid reservoir stays properly positioned between the MIN and MAX markers. The fluid level naturally drops as you accumulate mileage, which is a normal condition directly associated with progressive friction wear on the brake linings and pads.

If you observe that the fluid level is excessively low, have the complete hydraulic system professionally inspected without delay. Kia strongly recommends visiting an authorized Kia dealer or certified service partner to maintain optimal factory standards for your Kia EV2.

Always use premium hydraulic brake fluid that strictly conforms to DOT 4 performance specifications, as outlined in your official vehicle documentation.

Never mix different types, brands, or specifications of fluid, as chemical incompatibilities can severely degrade braking performance.

WARNING

Brake fluid

When changing, flushing, or topping up brake fluid, handle the liquid with extreme care to avoid accidental splashes. Do not let brake fluid come into direct contact with your eyes. If brake fluid accidentally splashes into your eyes, immediately flush them thoroughly with a large quantity of fresh tap water and seek professional medical examination by a doctor as soon as possible.

NOTE

Never allow aggressive brake fluid to come into contact with the painted body panels or exterior trim of your Kia EV2, as it will rapidly damage and dissolve the automotive paint finish. Never use brake fluid that has been left open and exposed to atmospheric air for an extended period, because moisture absorption compromises its quality and safety standards; dispose of old fluid properly. Never pour incorrect fluid types into the brake fluid reservoir.

TIP

Loss of brake fluid

If the braking system requires you to replenish fluid frequently between regular service intervals, have the entire hydraulic circuit inspected thoroughly by a professional workshop. Kia recommends visiting an authorized Kia dealer or service partner.
