Physically press the dedicated Parking Safety (Kia EV2 dashboard Parking Safety button icon) button on your console to switch ON the Parking Distance Warning on your Kia EV2. Press the exact same button a second time whenever you wish to deactivate and turn OFF the assistance feature.

Furthermore, shifting your transmission selector directly into R (Reverse) will instantly trigger the Parking Distance Warning to engage automatically, illuminating the integrated Parking Safety button indicator ON.

Forward Parking Distance Warning

The advanced Forward Parking Distance Warning mechanism activates automatically to protect your Kia EV2 whenever any of the following specific driving conditions are successfully met:

  • You shift your transmission gear selector smoothly from R (Reverse) into D (Drive).

  • The transmission remains engaged in D (Drive) whilst the physical Parking safety (Kia EV2 instrument cluster active Parking Safety indicator light) button indicator light glows steadily.

  • Your Kia EV2 travels forward in D (Drive) with the automated preset previously enabled via Setup > Vehicle > Driver Assistance > Parking Safety > Parking Distance Warning Auto On on your infotainment display.

NOTE

  • Forward Parking Distance Warning strictly initiates active scanning operations when your Kia EV2 travels at slow velocities below 10 km/h (6 mph).

  • When your transmission is locked in R (Reverse), the forward sensors ignore distant background elements, alerting you exclusively to obstacles situated within 60 cm (24 in) immediately ahead of your front bumper.

  • Failing to enable the Parking Distance Warning Auto On preference means the system and its button indicator light will shut OFF once vehicle speed exceeds 30 km/h (18 mph), requiring manual reactivation if you drop back below 10 km/h (6 mph).

  • An audible chime will sound whenever the ultrasonic sensors register a physical obstruction directly in the intended trajectory of your Kia EV2.

  • Acoustic warning chimes can be muted temporarily while your vehicle comes to a complete standstill.

  • Corresponding visual graphics flash on screen accompanied by distinctive audio alerts whenever any ultrasonic sensor detects pedestrians, animals, or objects inside its scanning zone.

  • If multiple obstructions are detected simultaneously around your Kia EV2, the audible alert prioritizes warnings for the closest obstacle.

  • The visual configuration and exact graphic styling of indicators shown in illustrations may vary slightly depending on your specific Kia EV2 software layout.

Side Parking Distance Warning: (if equipped)

The supplemental Side Parking Distance Warning system on your Kia EV2 operates seamlessly whenever the following prerequisite is satisfied:

  • Either the Front or Rear Parking Distance Warning mechanism is currently turned on and active

TIP

  • Side Parking Distance Warning remains functional exclusively when your Kia EV2 travels at low speeds under 10 km/h (6 mph).

  • The side monitoring features require the core Forward or Reverse Parking Distance Warning architecture to be powered ON.

  • Acoustic warning chimes may automatically mute themselves when the vehicle comes to a complete halt.

  • When side ultrasonic sensors detect nearby pedestrians or structures, your Kia EV2 instrument cluster and infotainment screen illuminate distinct distance indicators.

  • Audible warning chimes activate specifically when a lateral obstacle encroaches within 30 cm (12 in) of your vehicle exit path.

  • Objects detected safely outside the active exit trajectory will trigger visual indicators exclusively without sounding audio warnings.

  • While driving in D (Drive) past obstacles situated 30 cm (12 in) or further away, side warning notifications are suppressed in the instrument cluster.

  • Indicator icon graphics displayed in your vehicle may vary slightly from reference manuals due to regional software specifications.

Reverse Parking Distance Warning

The Reverse Parking Distance Warning system on your Kia EV2 activates automatically the moment you shift your transmission gear selector into R (Reverse), ensuring seamless safety protection during backing maneuvers.

NOTE

  • An audible buzzer sounds whenever the rear ultrasonic sensors detect a stationary or moving object directly within the intended reversing path of your Kia EV2.

  • The continuous or intermittent warning sound can be conveniently muted whenever the vehicle comes to a complete standstill.
