Kia EV2: Automatic climate control system / Air conditioning (A/C) automatic drying

Kia EV2 (QV1, 2026-2026) Owner's Manual / Controls and Features / Automatic climate control system / Air conditioning (A/C) automatic drying

The A/C automatic drying feature actively extracts lingering moisture from deep within the A/C architecture of your Kia EV2, significantly reducing unpleasant mold and mildew A/C odors over time. To ensure optimal cabin freshness without requiring manual intervention, the vehicle blower motor automatically engages for a pre-determined cycle shortly after the vehicle has been turned off for 30 minutes.

Turning A/C automatic drying on or off

You can seamlessly turn the A/C automatic drying feature on and off according to your personal preferences by navigating through the integrated infotainment system screen and selecting Setings > Climate > Climate Features > A/C Automatic Drying.

When the A/C automatic drying feature is successfully activated, the advanced climate control system of the Kia EV2 intelligently sets the blower fan speed to the third level, selects the outside fresh air position to maximize ventilation, and directs the continuous airflow downward to the floor mats.

The infotainment system interface and menu options may change following a software update. For more details and troubleshooting, refer to the digital user’s manual accessible right inside the infotainment system or consult your quick reference guide.

Operating conditions

To safeguard vehicle electronics and manage energy efficiently, the A/C automatic drying feature operates only under the following specific environmental and vehicle conditions:

  • The vehicle is turned off after operating the air conditioner continuously for a certain required period

  • The 12V auxiliary battery level is confirmed to be sufficiently charged

  • The external ambient temperature outside the Kia EV2 is safely above a certain threshold level

Non-operating conditions

To prevent unnecessary power drain and maintain system safety, the A/C automatic drying feature will immediately halt or stop operating under the following conditions:

  • The A/C automatic drying feature has completed its full 30-minute operational cycle

  • The EV button is pressed by the driver, or the vehicle is shifted back into the POWER ON position

  • The climate control system is activated remotely via a connected mobile app or key fob

  • The A/C automatic drying feature effectively minimizes persistent A/C odors, though it may not completely eliminate deeply embedded external or organic odors.

  • To fully protect against 12V battery discharge, the A/C automatic drying feature will automatically bypass operation if the remaining 12V battery level is insufficient.
