Accumulation of road grime, insects, tree sap, or commercial hot wax treatments from automated car washes on either the windscreen or the rubber wiper blades can severely degrade wiping efficiency on your Kia EV2. If the blades streak or fail to wipe cleanly, wash both the windscreen glass and the rubber elements using a quality glass cleaner or mild detergent, then rinse thoroughly with clean water.
CAUTION
To prevent permanent chemical deterioration or tearing of the rubber wiper blades, never use petrol, kerosene, paint thinner, or other harsh organic solvents on or near them.
TIP
Commercial hot wax coatings applied by automated car washes often leave a stubborn film on the glass, making the windscreen exceptionally difficult to clean without specialized window preparation.
When the windshield wipers no longer clear moisture adequately or leave streaks across your field of vision, the rubber blades are likely worn, hardened, or cracked, and require immediate replacement.
NOTE
To prevent mechanical damage to the wiper linkage arms or electric motors, do not attempt to force or move the wiper arms manually by hand.
Using non-specified or incorrect wiper blade sizes on your Kia EV2 can result in operating interference, mechanical malfunction, and wiper system failure.
|
Proper positioning of the wiper arms ensures safe and unobstructed maintenance access on your Kia EV2. |
For your convenience, and to prevent bonnet paint damage, move the windscreen wiper blades to the service position. After turning off the vehicle, move the wiper switch to the single wiping 1X position within 20 seconds. Hold the switch for more than 2 seconds until the wiper blades are pointing straight up. This specialized service mode keeps the wiper arms fully accessible and prevents potential scratching against the leading edge of the engine hood during routine maintenance procedures.
NOTE
Wiper arms
Do not allow the wiper arm to fall against the windscreen, as it may crack or chip the glass.
Do not pull the wiper arm forward, as the arm could chip the bonnet paint.
|
Depress the securing mechanism firmly to slide the old rubber blade assembly smoothly out of the metal arm hook. |
|
Listen for a distinct mechanical click to verify that the new wiper element is securely locked into place. |
POWER ON position to return the wiper arms to their normal operating position.
|
Regular inspection of the rear window wiper ensures clear visibility through the rear glass during adverse weather conditions. |
|
Apply gentle and even pressure to disengage the rear blade connector without straining the mounting pivot. |
|
Slide the fresh wiper insert smoothly along the alignment channel until it reaches its final locking position. |
Place the wiper arm on the rear windscreen, and start the vehicle to the POWER ON position, and operate the rear wiper to make sure the blade is installed correctly.
To prevent damage to the wiper arm or other components, have the wiper blade replaced by a professional workshop. Kia recommends visiting an authorised Kia dealer/service partner.
CAUTION
The wiper may not operate for approximately 10 seconds if you try to operate it without washer fluid or if the blades are frozen. This is not a malfunction. It is a wiper protection system activated by the motor overload circuit within the wiper motor.
With the wiper blades raised up, clean the front windscreen with a hose and wipe it with a clean towel. Whenever grease or wax has been applied to the wiper blades, wipe them clean.
NOTE
If you apply too much force to the wiper arm whilst pulling the blade, you may damage the centre part.
