Frost, condensation, or moisture accumulated on the windscreen of your Kia EV2 can severely obscure driver visibility, making prompt and efficient removal essential for safe navigation in adverse weather conditions.
WARNING
Windscreen heating
Do not use the
or
setting when running the air conditioner (A/C) in extremely humid weather. The temperature differential between outside air and the windscreen can fog up the windscreen’s outer surface and obscure visibility. Set the mode to
and the fan speed control to its lowest speed.
For maximum defrosting capability during freezing conditions, set the temperature control to its highest heat setting and the fan speed control to its highest speed to quickly clear the glass.
Set the climate control mode to floor-defrost if you desire warm air flowing into the footwell whilst simultaneously defrosting or defogging the upper cabin windows.
Before driving your Kia EV2, thoroughly clear all snow, accumulated frost, and ice from the windscreen, rear window, sideview mirrors, and all side windows to ensure a completely unobstructed 360-degree field of view.
To improve heater and defroster efficiency and reduce the likelihood of the inside of the windscreen fogging up, clear all snow and ice from the bonnet and air inlet in the car’s grille.
For automatic climate control system
To effectively defog the inside of the windscreen using the advanced automatic climate control system integrated into your Kia EV2, follow these precise operational steps:
Set the desired fan speed according to your immediate comfort and clarity needs.
Select the desired cabin temperature using the digital climate interface.
Press the dedicated defroster icon located on the control panel.
External airflow is selected automatically, and the air conditioner (A/C) operates according to the detected ambient temperature to dehumidify incoming air efficiently.
If external airflow and A/C are not selected automatically, manually press the corresponding control icons. If you select the mode, a slower fan speed is adjusted to a higher fan speed to accelerate clearing.
For automatic climate control system
To thoroughly defrost the outside of the windscreen using the automatic climate control system of your Kia EV2, follow these steps:
Set the fan to its highest speed to maximize air volume distribution across the glass surface.
Set the temperature to maximum heat to rapidly warm up the glass and melt stubborn outer ice layers.
Press the defroster icon .
External airflow is selected automatically, and the air conditioner (A/C) operates according to the detected ambient temperature.
Automatic defogging senses moisture on the inside of the windscreen to reduce the likelihood of the windscreen fogging up.

The AUTO defogging system operates seamlessly when the heating or air conditioning (A/C) is switched on.
The AUTO defogging indicator will appear on your display screen when the system is actively operating.
If high humidity levels are detected inside the vehicle cabin, the AUTO defogging feature will engage immediately.
The following steps are performed automatically by the Kia EV2:
The A/C icon indicator will turn on to start dehumidifying cabin air.
The air intake control changes automatically to external airflow when the outside temperature is low to balance humidity.
The climate mode changes to defrost so that high-volume airflow is directed straight to the windscreen.
The fan speed increases incrementally to ensure rapid clearing of the glass.
Cancelling or resetting the AUTO defogging system
Press and hold the front windscreen defroster icon for 3 continuous seconds when the vehicle is in the POWER ON position or the DRIVE READY indicator is illuminated.
When AUTO defogging cancels successfully, the defrost icon indicator blinks 3 times to confirm.
When the AUTO defogging system resets to default parameters, the defrost icon indicator blinks 6 times without an audible signal.
TIP
If you try to turn the A/C off when AUTO defogging is actively running, the indicator blinks 3 times and the A/C will remain ON to prevent fogging.
To maintain the AUTO defogging system’s effectiveness and efficiency in your Kia EV2, do not select recirculated air intake whilst the system is operating.
When AUTO defogging is operating, the fan speed adjustment lever/icon, temperature adjustment lever, and air intake control icon are temporarily disabled to prioritize visibility.
NOTE
Do not remove or tamper with the sensor cover located on the upper end of the windshield glass.
Damage to system parts could occur and may not be covered by your vehicle warranty.
The vehicle is equipped with a high-performance defroster system designed for removing frost, condensation, or fog from the rear window.
To defrost or defog the front windscreen of your Kia EV2, refer to the Windscreen defrosting and defogging section above.
NOTE
Conductors
To prevent structural damage to the heating conductors bonded securely to the inside surface of the rear window, never clean the glass using sharp instruments or window cleaners containing abrasive chemicals.
Rear window defroster
|
The defroster heats the window matrix to remove frost, fog, and thin ice layers from the rear window whilst the vehicle is in the POWER ON position.
If there is a heavy accumulation of snow on the rear window, brush it off manually before operating the rear defroster.
To turn the rear window defroster on:
Press the rear window defroster icon located conveniently in the heater control panel.
The indicator light on the rear window defroster icon appears when the heating element is active.
The rear window defroster automatically turns off after approximately 20 minutes of continuous operation, or when the vehicle is placed in the OFF position.
To turn off the defroster manually before the timer expires:
Press the rear window defroster icon again on the control interface.
Outside mirror defroster: (if equipped)
If your Kia EV2 is equipped with outside mirror defrosters, they will operate simultaneously whenever you turn on the rear window defroster to ensure clear side visibility.
To reduce the likelihood of fogging up the inside of the windscreen on your Kia EV2, air intake and A/C are automatically controlled according to certain driving conditions and ambient parameters, seamlessly reflected in modes such as
or
.
Pet mode: (if equipped)
Storage compartmentsIf equipped, this automatic dimming mirror provides a wide angle camera view of the area behind the vehicle.
