Kia EV2 (QV1, 2026-2026) Owner's Manual / Controls and Features / Automatic climate control system / Pet mode: (if equipped)

Pet Mode allows you to safely leave your pet inside a parked Kia EV2 while maintaining a comfortable, climate-controlled cabin temperature using the vehicle’s high-voltage battery. It keeps the sophisticated climate control system running continuously, even after you park and turn off your vehicle, ensuring the interior remains pleasant and safe for your pet.

To activate Pet Mode

  1. Shift into P (Park) whilst the vehicle is in the POWER ON position.

  2. Select the Pet Mode option on the infotainment screen to initiate the feature.

  3. Check the safety pop-up message carefully and tap Agree to proceed.

  4. Choose your desired cabin temperature and settings directly on the infotainment screen.

  5. When Pet Mode is active, make sure to lock all the vehicle doors within 5 minutes after stepping outside.

Pet Mode will automatically turn off if you fail to lock the doors within the specified 5-minute window.

To deactivate Pet Mode

  1. Unlock the vehicle doors.

  2. Tap Deactivate Pet Mode on the infotainment screen.

  3. Pet Mode can also automatically deactivate if you do not take any action on the infotainment screen.

Lock the vehicle again if you wish to maintain Pet Mode operation.

Limited or disabled features during Pet Mode

Several vehicle functions are temporarily limited or disabled when Pet Mode is active to prevent accidental operation or malfunctions caused by a pet:

  • Gear shifting and driving controls

  • Rear Occupant Alert (ROA) system

  • Display screen touch responses

  • EV button functions

  • Climate control icon shortcuts

  • Central door lock and unlock button

  • Window switches

  • Camera view button

  • Media playback systems

  • Pet Mode is designed exclusively for the comfort of pets and should never be relied upon for the safety of children or other people.

  • Whilst Pet Mode is on, the rear occupant alert system is turned off. Never leave a child unattended in the rear seat.

  • Pet Mode is specifically intended for the safety and comfort of pets left in the vehicle, not for humans. Kia accepts no responsibility or liability for any claims, damages, or liabilities arising from unintended use or misuse of the feature.

  • To use Pet Mode safely, ensure your Kia EV2 has sufficient battery charge. Battery discharge whilst Pet Mode is active may potentially leave your pet locked inside the vehicle.

  • Pet Mode is designed for short periods when you need to leave your pet in the vehicle. It should not be used for extended periods of time.

  • Before activating Pet Mode, you should ensure all doors, the sunroof, tailgate, and windows are completely closed.

  • In extreme weather conditions, Pet Mode can experience faster battery drain, specifically when the temperature difference between the interior and exterior of the vehicle is significant.

  • If the battery level drops too low, Pet Mode may not engage. Charge your vehicle beforehand if the battery level is insufficient.

  • If Pet Mode deactivates due to vehicle conditions, you will receive an alert notification on your mobile app, letting you know you should return to your vehicle immediately to ensure your pet’s safety.

  • Pet Mode may deactivate due to a technical malfunction in either the high-voltage battery or the electric parking brake system. Ensure your vehicle is serviced regularly to address any potential system malfunctions.

    Blind Spot Mirrors

If equipped, there is a small convex mirror built into the upper and outer corner of the driver outside mirror. It can show objects that may be in the vehicle's blind zone.

Driving with the Blind Spot Mirror

    Actual Mirror View

When the approaching vehicle is a long distance away, the image in the main mirror is small and near the inboard edge of the mirror. As the vehicle gets closer, the image in the main mirror gets larger and moves outboard. As the vehicle enters the blind zone, the image transitions from the main mirror to the blind spot mirror. When the vehicle is in the blind zone, the image only appears in the blind spot mirror.
