The Virtual Engine Sound System (VESS) generates an artificial acoustic signature for the Kia EV2, ensuring pedestrians and cyclists detect the vehicle's approach during silent electric propulsion.
The VESS activates automatically when the Kia EV2 is in READY mode and the gear selector is shifted out of P (Park).
WARNING
The acoustic warning system plays a strictly supplementary safety role and does not replace the fundamental responsibility and caution of the driver. Always maintain active visual awareness of your immediate surroundings whilst operating the Kia EV2.
CAUTION
Important safety considerations for urban driving and low-speed manoeuvring:
Because the electric powertrain remains inherently quiet, maintain heightened vigilance regarding vulnerable road users, even when the VESS is functional on your Kia EV2.
When stopping at pedestrian crossings, traffic lights, or parking zones, carefully scan for children, pets, or low obstacles hidden from your direct line of sight.
When reversing the Kia EV2 out of driveways or tight spaces, thoroughly check all blind spots, as pedestrians might not instantly register an electric vehicle's low-frequency warning tones.
