When driving your Kia EV2 through severe winter conditions where tyre chains become necessary, they should be installed exclusively onto the front driving wheels.
Always ensure that the chains are fitted carefully in strict accordance with the specific manufacturer’s instructions and guidelines.
To minimize unnecessary wear and tear on both your tyres and the metal chains, remove the tyre chains promptly as soon as you transition onto clear, unblocked roads.
When operating your vehicle on snow- or ice-covered roads with tyre chains installed, maintain a cautious speed below 30 km/h (20 mph) or adhere strictly to the maximum speed limit recommended by the chain manufacturer, whichever is lower.
If you hear any unusual metallic clinking or slapping noises caused by the chains making contact with the body panels or wheel arches of your Kia EV2, stop safely and retighten the chains immediately to prevent potential body damage.
To prevent any structural or cosmetic damage to the bodywork, always inspect and retighten the chains after driving an initial distance of 0.5–1 km (0.3–0.6 miles).
Avoid using traditional metal tyre chains on models equipped with delicate aluminium alloy wheels unless absolutely unavoidable; in such constrained circumstances, use specialized wire-type chains designed to minimize rim contact.
If tyre chains are mandatory, utilize only certified chains approved for this vehicle platform, such as SAE S class wire chains measuring less than 12 mm (0.47 inches) in thickness or compliant fabric snow chains. Note that wire chains must never be used on 19-inch tyre configurations.
