Press the Driving Assist button located on your steering wheel to turn Smart Cruise Control ON and seamlessly engage the system. Your target cruising speed is immediately established and synchronized to your exact real-time velocity displayed on the instrument cluster.
If the roadway ahead remains completely clear of slower traffic, the Kia EV2 maintains your chosen cruising velocity with high precision.
If a leading vehicle is detected in your lane, the system dynamically modulates your speed to preserve an optimal distance gap. Should the preceding vehicle accelerate away, your Kia EV2 will automatically scale up speed to match your previously configured cruising limit and maintain steady travel.
TIP
If your Kia EV2 is traveling at a low crawl between 0–30 km/h (0–20 mph) when you press the Driving Assist button, the baseline Smart Cruise Control operating speed is automatically initialized at 30 km/h (20 mph).
Pressing and holding the steering wheel Driving Assist button instantly initiates Manual Speed Limit Assist instead of standard cruise functions.
For complete operational guidelines regarding Manual Speed Limit Assist (MSLA), please review the dedicated Manual Speed Limit Assist documentation section.
Setting vehicle distance
|
To precisely customize the following gap between your Kia EV2 and the traffic ahead, press the dedicated vehicle distance button. Each successive press cycles through the available spacing tiers in a structured sequence:
|
When cruising at a steady highway velocity of 90 km/h (56 mph), the following distance maintained by your Kia EV2 scales across distinct profiles:
Distance 4: approximately 52.5 m (172 ft) for maximum conservative spacing
Distance 3: approximately 40 m (130 ft) for balanced highway driving
Distance 2: approximately 32.5 m (106 ft) for moderate traffic flow
Distance 1: approximately 25 m (82 ft) for denser traffic conditions
TIP
Your Kia EV2 automatically retains your last preferred distance setting even after an ignition restart or a temporary system cancellation.
If your Kia EV2 features an active in-cabin monitoring camera and detects that the driver's gaze is diverted away from the road ahead, the system proactively expands the following distance beyond Level 4 to enhance safety margins. Once the driver's attention returns forward, the following distance seamlessly reverts to your personalized setting.
Increasing set speed
|
Push the (
) switch upward and release it immediately. The set cruising speed of your Kia EV2 increases incrementally by 1 km/h (1 mph) with each discrete tap.
Push the (
) switch upward and hold it engaged. The target speed steps up rapidly by 10 km/h (5 mph) continuously while held.
You can effortlessly scale the cruising velocity of your Kia EV2 up to a maximum limit of 160 km/h (100 mph).
TIP
Always evaluate surrounding traffic conditions before engaging the (
) switch. Your Kia EV2 may accelerate sharply and swiftly when you hold the (
) switch in the upward position.
Decreasing set speed
|
Push the (
) switch downward and release it instantly. The set cruising speed decreases precisely by 1 km/h (1 mph) with each single actuation.
Push the (
) switch downward and hold it down. The target speed steps down by 10 km/h (5 mph) continuously during extended operation.
You can lower the active cruising speed of your Kia EV2 down to a minimum threshold of 30 km/h (20 mph).
Temporarily cancelling Smart Cruise Control
|
Press the (
) switch or physically depress the brake pedal to temporarily disengage Smart Cruise Control while retaining your previously programmed speed memory in your Kia EV2.
Resuming Smart Cruise Control
|
To reactivate Smart Cruise Control on your Kia EV2 after a temporary pause, manipulate the (
), (
), or (
) switches according to your current driving preference:
If you push the (
) switch upward or the (
) switch downward, the new target cruise speed aligns directly with your current real-time velocity on the instrument cluster.
If you press the (
) switch, your Kia EV2 immediately returns to its previously stored preset cruising speed.
If you are actively pressing the accelerator pedal while traveling below your stored target speed, pressing the (
) or (
) switch up or down instantly resumes the system, adopting your immediate driving speed as the new active set point.
TIP
Verify clear road conditions before interacting with the (
) switch. Your Kia EV2 may execute sharp acceleration or deceleration adjustments when you actuate the (
) switch.
Turning OFF Smart Cruise Control
|
Press the Driving Assist button once to completely power OFF Smart Cruise Control on your Kia EV2.
NOTE
If your specific trim of the Kia EV2 includes Manual Speed Limit Assist, pressing and holding the Driving Assist button deactivates Smart Cruise Control while simultaneously turning ON the Manual Speed Limit Assist function.
WARNING
Never actuate multiple conflicting switches and control buttons simultaneously, as doing so may cause Smart Cruise Control to malfunction or behave unpredictably on your Kia EV2.
Operating conditions
Smart Cruise Control display and controlIf equipped, there is a small convex mirror built into the upper and outer corner of the driver outside mirror. It can show objects that may be in the vehicle's blind zone.
Driving with the Blind Spot Mirror

Actual Mirror View
When the approaching vehicle is a long distance away, the image in the main mirror is small and near the inboard edge of the mirror. As the vehicle gets closer, the image in the main mirror gets larger and moves outboard. As the vehicle enters the blind zone, the image transitions from the main mirror to the blind spot mirror. When the vehicle is in the blind zone, the image only appears in the blind spot mirror.
