When Highway Driving Assist experiences an operational fault or fails to work properly on your Kia EV2, the Master warning light () illuminates on the instrument cluster, accompanied by an explicit warning message that persists for several seconds. Highway Driving Assist is designed strictly as a supplemental driving support function rather than a completely autonomous driving system. Always monitor evolving road conditions and take appropriate manual actions to ensure total safety.

Highway Driving Assist may occasionally fail to recognise complex traffic scenarios or detect potential collision threats due to inherent system limitations. Always remain fully aware of these functional boundaries. The system may fail to identify sudden obstacles—such as stationary or moving vehicles, motorcycles, bicycles, pedestrians, or unspecified debris—as well as physical structures like guardrails or tollgates that could potentially collide with your vehicle.

Highway Driving Assist will automatically turn OFF under specific operational situations:

When driving on road segments where Highway Driving Assist is unsupported or unauthorized, such as rest areas, highway intersections, complex junctions, and local streets.

When the built-in vehicle navigation system experiences software errors or fails to operate properly, including situations during system updates or sudden reboots.

Highway Driving Assist may inadvertently engage, disengage, or turn OFF unexpectedly depending on changing road infrastructure quality, satellite navigation data accuracy, and surrounding environmental factors.

The Lane Following Assist function may experience temporary disabling if the front-facing windshield camera cannot clearly detect lane markings due to glare, weather, or when the hands-off steering warning appears.

You might fail to hear audible Highway Driving Assist warning alerts if the cabin environment is excessively noisy due to loud music or heavy wind.

If you drive your Kia EV2 at speeds exceeding safe parameters on a tight curve, your vehicle may naturally veer toward one side or drift outside of the designated driving lane.

If you are towing a trailer, caravan, or another vehicle behind your Kia EV2, you must manually turn Highway Driving Assist OFF for absolute safety.

Limitations of Highway Driving Assist

Highway Driving Assist and Highway Lane Change Assist on your Kia EV2 may operate abnormally, experience temporary restrictions, or unexpectedly disengage under the following environmental and operational circumstances:

If the operation of Lane Following Assist is limited or disabled, the functionality of Highway Driving Assist and its associated subordinate functions will also be directly limited. Travelling across international borders into a geographic region or country where highway driving assistance features are not officially supported.
The onboard map information diverges significantly from the actual road layout because the navigation database is out of date.
The stored map information differs from physical road conditions due to real-time GPS data anomalies, satellite drift, or navigation map server errors.
The infotainment system processing unit becomes heavily overloaded due to simultaneously executing intensive background functions, such as active route calculation, high-definition video playback, advanced voice recognition, and media streaming.
GPS satellite positioning signals are temporarily blocked or obstructed when your Kia EV2 drives through enclosed areas such as long highway tunnels or underground underpasses.
You veer off the active course, manually reset the navigation route by selecting a new destination, dynamically alter the route based on incoming real-time traffic updates, or completely cancel active navigation guidance.
