Locking
Firmly touch or press the designated button area on either front exterior door handle while all doors are completely closed and at least one door is currently unlocked to securely lock all doors simultaneously. If all passenger doors and the front bonnet are properly closed, the exterior hazard warning lights will blink once to confirm that all doors are locked.
The exterior handle button will only function when the smart key is detected within a close proximity range of 0.7 to 1 m (28 to 40 inches) from the front door handles.
Even if you touch or press the front door handle buttons, the vehicle doors will refuse to lock under any of the following conditions:

The vehicle power system is currently active in the POWER ON position.
Any passenger door, including the rear tailgate, remains open or ajar.
Unlocking (Manual type)
Press the engraved button on the front door handle while carrying the smart key in your possession to unlock all doors. The exterior hazard warning lights will flash twice to indicate that all doors are successfully unlocked.

Pull the extended outside door handle outward to swing the door open. The exterior button will only operate when the smart key is within the 0.7 to 1 m (28 to 40 inches) detection zone around the front door handle.
When your smart key is recognized within this 0.7 to 1 m (28 to 40 inches) zone near the front door handle, nearby individuals can also open the doors without possessing a separate smart key.
After pressing the handle button, the doors will automatically re-lock for security unless you open a door within a 30-second window.

Select Settings > Vehicle > Door > Approach Unlock on your central infotainment system.
Keep the door locked with the outside door handle closed.
The door handle might pop out unexpectedly when high-pressure water streams, moisture, or cleaning cloths touch the lock/unlock proximity sensors. Keep your smart key at least 2 m (78 inches) away from your Kia EV2 to prevent the exterior door handles from operating during washing.
Leave the key inside the vehicle and keep the vehicle in the POWER ON position if an unintended warning sound occurs.
When entering an automated car wash facility, ensure your Kia EV2 is in the POWER ON position and shift the gear selector into the N (Neutral) position.
If the smart key is not inside the vehicle, turn off the vehicle system and keep the smart key at least 2 m (78 inches) away from the exterior to prevent the flush door handles from deploying.
NOTE
Do not unnecessarily open and close the doors repeatedly or with excessive force, as this can damage the internal door mechanisms.
If a door is locked or unlocked multiple times in rapid succession using either the vehicle key or interior door switches, the system may temporarily suspend operation to protect electrical circuits and prevent component damage. Always engage the parking brake, close all windows, and secure all doors when leaving your Kia EV2 unattended.
When the 12V vehicle battery voltage is low, the driver's door automatically switches to an emergency operation mode. In this state, you may hear an electric motor click when pulling the door handle, which is normal and indicates internal motor actuation.
In an emergency, such as a dead 12V battery, you can press the front section of the door handle to slide it out manually. Once extended, you can unlock the door using the mechanical key blade.
Even when the doors are unlocked, the door handles will retract and the doors will lock automatically when you shift the gear selector into R (Reverse).

When the motorized door handles operate, you may hear a faint mechanical humming sound inside the cabin.
Do not leave your Kia EV2 unlocked for an extended duration, as low battery voltage may prevent passenger doors from opening properly.
In cold winter climates, the automatic power window and handle features may encounter resistance due to ice formation. If possible, operate windows manually until thawed.
Never leave a spare key locked inside your vehicle cabin, as this may compromise emergency access.
CAUTION
Entering an automatic car wash while the exterior door handles are extended can cause severe mechanical damage to the handles or force the doors open.
If a door is slammed shut with excessive force or the outside handle is jerked at high speed, the internal safety release mechanism engages, which may temporarily prevent the door from opening when pulled. Pulling the outside door handle once more will reset the latch and open the door.
If the Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) system is triggered during a critical event, the exterior door handles may automatically deploy to assist rescue workers after an impact. Once FCA status clears, the handles will return to their flush resting positions.
Always ensure passenger doors are securely latched before driving your Kia EV2 to prevent accidental opening while in motion.
