Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist will issue progressive warnings and actively control your Kia EV2 through distinct stages depending on the evaluated collision risk level:

The Collision Warning system on your Kia EV2 actively alerts you to potential hazards by illuminating a warning light on the outside rearview mirror, displaying a visual warning message on the instrument cluster, emitting an audible chime, and providing a distinctive steering wheel vibration.
Detailed collision warning notifications also appear clearly on the central infotainment system screen of your Kia EV2.
The Collision Warning function operates when all of the following specific driving conditions are satisfied:
You shift the transmission gear to R (Reverse) whilst your vehicle speed is below 8 km/h (5 mph).
The approaching cross-traffic vehicle is approximately within 25 m (82 ft) from the left or right side of your Kia EV2.
The speed of the vehicle approaching from either the left or right side is above 5 km/h (3 mph).
TIP
If all operational conditions are satisfied, the system will trigger a warning whenever a vehicle approaches from the left or right side, even if your Kia EV2 speed is completely stationary at 0 km/h (0 mph).
Graphical interface elements, warning icons, and color themes may display differently depending on your Kia EV2 instrument cluster specifications and chosen display theme.

Collision Warning can alert you with a warning light on the outside rearview mirror, a warning message, an audible warning, and steering wheel vibration.
Collision Warning also appears on the infotainment system screen.
Emergency Braking on your Kia EV2 provides active deceleration support to help prevent a collision with a vehicle approaching rapidly from the left or right while reversing.
Emergency Braking operates when all of the following criteria are met:
You shift the transmission gear to R (Reverse) whilst your Kia EV2 speed is below 8 km/h (5 mph).
The approaching cross-traffic vehicle is approximately within 1.5 m (5 ft) from the left or right side of your vehicle.
The speed of the vehicle approaching from the left or right is above 5 km/h (3 mph).
TIP
Active brake control automatically terminates under any of the following conditions:
The approaching vehicle moves completely out of the radar detecting range.
The approaching vehicle passes safely behind your Kia EV2.
The approaching vehicle alters its trajectory and is no longer driving toward your vehicle.
The approaching vehicle significantly slows down or stops.
You engage the brake pedal manually with sufficient braking power.

When Emergency Braking brings your Kia EV2 to a complete stop, a dedicated warning message appears on the instrument cluster screen.
You should manually apply the brake pedal immediately and carefully verify your surrounding traffic environment.
The vehicle maintains a stationary stop for up to 5 minutes following emergency braking intervention, and if there is no subsequent brake pedal input from the driver, the Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) is automatically engaged.
If the driver depresses the brake pedal with sufficient force during active braking or vehicle stop control, the automated system control is immediately released.
WARNING
For your personal safety, always change driver assistance settings only after parking your Kia EV2 securely at a safe location.
Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist may fail to display a visual warning message or emit an audible alert if another higher-priority system warning is currently active.
You might not hear the warning chimes of Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist when driving in loud, noisy urban surroundings.
Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist may not trigger if you have already manually initiated heavy braking to evade a hazard.
During automated system operation, your Kia EV2 may decelerate abruptly, potentially startling passengers or shifting unsecoured items. Always wear your seat belt and keep cargo properly secured.
Your Kia EV2 standard mechanical braking system will continue to operate normally even if a fault occurs within the Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist system.
WARNING
Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist automatically cancels braking intervention if you excessively depress the accelerator pedal.
Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist is an auxiliary aid and does not operate in every conceivable traffic scenario nor can it prevent all collisions.
Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist may issue late warnings or fail to warn you depending on complex road geometry and driving conditions.
You remain entirely responsible for controlling your Kia EV2 at all times. Do not rely solely on automated driver assistance; maintain a safe following distance and manually brake when necessary.
Never depend on Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Avoidance to prevent impacts with pedestrians, animals, or stationary objects, as doing so may lead to severe injury or death.
TIP
Automated brake control may not function correctly depending on the operational status of Electronic Stability Control (ESC) on your Kia EV2.
Audible and visual warnings will be restricted exclusively when:
The ESC warning indicator light is illuminated on the dashboard.
ESC is currently engaged in managing a different vehicle stability function.
NOTE
If Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist assists with braking, you must immediately take active control by depressing the brake pedal and checking your surroundings.
After shifting your Kia EV2 into R (Reverse), automated braking control is designed to operate once per reverse cycle for vehicles approaching from the left, and once for vehicles approaching from the right.

Never leave a child, a helpless adult, or a pet alone in a vehicle, especially with the windows closed in warm or hot weather. They can be overcome by the extreme heat and suffer permanent injuries or even death from heat stroke.
