Operation

  1. Insert the mechanical emergency key securely into the designated passenger's front air bag ON/OFF switch slot.

  2. Turn the mechanical key to manually activate or deactivate the passenger's front air bag depending on specific travel requirements:

    • When you install a approved child restraint system on the front passenger's seat.

    • When the front passenger seat is completely unoccupied during travel.

Front passenger air bag ON/OFF indicator

Operating condition(s)
  • After the vehicle starts and powers up

    • The front passenger air bag ON/OFF indicator illuminates clearly for approximately 4 seconds.

  • When you set the front passenger air bag ON/OFF switch to the respective ON or OFF position

    • The front passenger air bag ON/OFF status indicator illuminates to confirm the current operational configuration

Non-operating condition(s)
  • When the vehicle is running or within approximately 3 minutes after the vehicle is turned completely off

    • The front air bag ON/OFF indicator does not appear or remains unlit under these specific transitional states.

CAUTION

  • If the passenger's front air bag ON/OFF switch is not working properly, the master air bag warning light on the instrument panel will appear. And, the passenger's front air bag OFF indicator ( Dashboard indicator light showing Kia EV2 passenger airbag turned off) will not appear (whilst the passenger's front air bag ON indicator comes on instead), causing the SRS Control Module to automatically reactivate the passenger's front air bag so that the passenger's front air bag will inflate in frontal impact crashes even if the physical passenger's front air bag ON/OFF switch is set to the OFF position ( Dashboard indicator light showing Kia EV2 passenger airbag turned on). In this critical scenario, have the restraint system inspected immediately by a professional workshop. Kia recommends visiting an authorised Kia dealer or service partner for proper diagnostics.

NOTE

  • When the passenger front air bag ON/OFF switch is set to the ON position, the passenger front air bag activates fully, and you should never install a child safety seat or infant restraint on the front passenger seat of your Kia EV2.

  • When the passenger front air bag ON/OFF switch is set to the OFF position, the passenger front air bag deactivates accordingly.
