Kia EV2: Mirrors / Outside rearview mirror

Kia EV2 (QV1, 2026-2026) Owner's Manual / Driver adjustments / Mirrors / Outside rearview mirror

Your Kia EV2 comes fully equipped with aerodynamic exterior rearview mirrors on both the driver and passenger sides to broaden your field of vision.

Make sure to calibrate and adjust the mirror angles correctly before setting your vehicle in motion.

Depending on the specific trim level and mirror specification installed on your Kia EV2, you can adjust the mirrors remotely using interior switches or manual control levers, as well as fold the mirror assemblies inward to prevent accidental damage during automatic car washes or when navigating tight urban streets.

NOTE

Rearview mirrors

  • The exterior rearview mirrors feature convex glass surfaces, which means objects viewed in the mirror are closer than they actually appear.

  • Always cross-check with your interior rearview mirror or turn your head for direct visual confirmation before changing lanes or merging.

NOTE

Never scrape accumulated frost or ice directly off the mirror glass with sharp tools, as doing so will permanently scratch and ruin the surface. If ice freezes the adjustment mechanism, do not force it; instead, use an approved automotive de-icer spray or apply warm water with a soft cloth or sponge.

TIP

If ice jams the motorized assembly, avoid forcing the housing by hand. Apply a specialized spray de-icer to free the components, or relocate your Kia EV2 to a heated indoor garage until the ice melts naturally.

WARNING

Never attempt to adjust or fold the outside rearview mirrors while driving your Kia EV2, as taking your focus off the road can easily cause a dangerous collision resulting in severe injury or death.

Adjusting the outside rearview mirrors

The electric remote control switch located on the door panel lets you easily fine-tune the position of both the left and right outside rearview mirrors on your Kia EV2.

To adjust the outside rearview mirrors, follow these steps:

  1. Slide the R or L selector switch (1) to choose either the right-side or left-side mirror.

  2. Press the directional edges on the adjustment pad (2) to tilt the selected mirror glass upward, downward, left, or right.

    NOTE

    • The internal adjustment motors continue to run as long as the switch is held, even after the mirror reaches its maximum angle limit. Release the switch immediately once adjustment is complete to prevent motor burnout.

    • Never adjust the exterior rearview mirrors of your Kia EV2 manually by pushing the glass housing, as manual manipulation can strip the internal gears.

Folding the outside rearview mirror

Manual type

To fold a manual-type outside rearview mirror on your Kia EV2, firmly grasp the outer plastic housing and push it backward toward the rear of the vehicle body.

Electric type: (if equipped)

You can effortlessly fold or unfold the powered outside rearview mirrors of your Kia EV2 by pressing the dedicated folding switch illustrated below:

  • Press the button once to power-fold the outside rearview mirrors inward against the side windows.

  • Press the button again to return the mirrors to their extended driving position.

    CAUTION

The electric mirror motors can be operated even when the EV button is in the OFF position. Avoid repeatedly cycling the mirrors while the vehicle is turned off to prevent unnecessary 12V battery drain.

    NOTE

Do not manually push or pull electric-type outside rearview mirrors to fold them, as manual force will damage the internal electronic actuators and gears.

Reverse parking aid function: (if equipped)

When you shift the gear into the R (Reverse) position, the outside rearview mirrors of your Kia EV2 will automatically tilt downward to give you a clear view of the curb and ground area.

The active position of the outside rearview mirror selector switch (1) determines whether or not the auto-tilt function will engage.

Left or right: When you select either the L (Left) or R (Right) position, both exterior mirrors will respond to the reverse shift.

Neutral: When you leave the selector switch unselected in the neutral position, the outside rearview mirrors will remain stationary.

The outside rearview mirrors will automatically revert to their standard driving positions under any of the following conditions:

  • You place the EV button into either the OFF or POWER ON position.

  • You shift the transmission gear into any position other than R (Reverse).

  • You return the remote control outside rearview mirror selector switch to the neutral position.

Auto reverse user settings

If you require a different downward tilt angle to secure optimal visibility compared to the factory default settings on your Kia EV2, you can customize and save your preferred mirror positions.

You can set the custom default angles of the right and left rearview mirrors independently to suit your exact parking posture:

  1. Set the shift lever to P (Park), ensure the vehicle is completely stationary, and verify that the mirrors are finished moving.

  2. Slide the selector switch to L (Left) or R (Right) depending on which mirror you want to calibrate.

  3. Firmly depress the brake pedal and move the shift lever into R (Reverse).

  4. Once the rearview mirror completes its automatic downward movement, adjust it to your preferred angle by pressing the directional switches: ▼, ▲, ◀, ▶.

  5. To automatically save the newly adjusted angle, shift the gear out of R (Reverse), move the rearview mirror selector lever back to neutral, and wait for the mirror to return to its standard position.

  6. Repeat the exact same procedure to customize the rearview mirror on the opposite side of your Kia EV2.

How to reset auto reverse user settings

To restore the rearview mirror automatic control functions back to their original factory default parameters, perform the following steps:

  1. Shift to P (Park), ensure the vehicle is stationary, and make sure the mirror motors are idle.

  2. Position the selector lever to L (Left) or R (Right) for the specific mirror you want to reset.

  3. Engage the foot brake and shift the transmission into R (Reverse).

  4. When the rearview mirror finishes moving downward, press the ▲ (up) directional switch to raise the mirror position higher than its standard driving alignment.

  5. To initialize and save the reset settings, shift the gear out of R (Reverse) or return the mirror selector switch to neutral, ensuring the default calibration applies during the next operation.

  6. Follow the identical procedure to initialize the settings for the mirror on the other side of the vehicle.

    NOTE

Kia recommends following the above procedures in precise order when modifying or initializing auto reverse user settings. If you skip ahead before completing a step, the target angle may not save or the reset sequence may fail.
