Kia EV2: Lane Keeping Assist (LKA) / Lane Keeping Assist operation

• When operational conditions for lane detection are not yet met, the gray standby indicator () remains visible on the instrument cluster.

• Once all operating criteria are met and the system actively monitors the road, the green active indicator () appears on the instrument cluster.

• Lane Keeping Assist remains fully active even if the primary supporting driving convenience feature is subsequently turned off.

• To fully deactivate Lane Keeping Assist during linked operations, temporarily disable Smart Cruise Control or press the Lane Driving Assist button or Driving Assist button to turn off the overarching convenience feature before attempting to shut it down.

The Lane Keeping Assist system will not operate when the Kia EV2 driving speed is below 55 km/h (35 mph) or exceeds 210 km/h (130 mph).

• Steering assistance may not activate properly if you grip the steering wheel too tightly or make sharp steering corrections beyond a certain degree.

• Lane Keeping Assist does not operate autonomously at all times; it remains your fundamental responsibility to safely steer the Kia EV2 and maintain proper lane positioning.

• The hands-off warning message may display with a slight delay depending on current road conditions, so always keep your hands securely on the steering wheel whilst driving.

• If you wear heavy gloves or hold the steering wheel very lightly, the system may fail to detect your contact, triggering an unwarranted hands-off warning.

• Attaching unauthorized objects, covers, or accessories to the steering wheel can interfere with sensors and cause the hands-off warning system to malfunction.

• When the integrated in-cabin camera determines that the driver is showing signs of fatigue or an abnormal state, Lane Keeping Assist may engage at an earlier threshold: (if equipped)

• When equipped with Front Radar, Rear Corner Radar, an in-cabin camera, and Hands-On Detection (HOD), the steering wheel may feel noticeably heavier for safety reasons in the following driving scenarios:

  • The driver appears inattentive, such as looking away from the forward path or away from the lane departure direction, or when a hands-off warning is triggered.

  • Another vehicle is rapidly approaching in the same direction within the adjacent target lane.

  • An oncoming vehicle is approaching from the opposite direction across the centre line toward the target departure path.

• Even while active steering assistance is provided by Lane Keeping Assist, you retain full override capability to control the steering wheel at any moment.

• The steering wheel resistance may feel slightly heavier or lighter than normal while automated steering corrections are applied.

• When you select Highway Lane Change Assist on your Kia EV2, a supportive green lane graphic appears on the instrument cluster (if equipped):

• Graphic styles, visual layouts, and color representations may vary slightly depending on your specific instrument cluster specifications or theme settings.

• When Highway Lane Change Assist is enabled, active lane markings on the digital display may illuminate in green.
