In extreme winter freezing conditions, the retractable door handles on your Kia EV2 may become stuck due to ice buildup. You can typically use the fleshy lower part of your fist to tap the door handle housing gently to break and clear away accumulated ice.
Clear away ice by tapping the door handle housing using the bottom of your fist in a steady circular motion along the entire outer perimeter of the door handle assembly.
If required, increase the impact intensity slightly and repeat the tapping until the door handle successfully pops outward when an unlock command is given.
Once the door handle protrudes and can be pulled freely, cycle the handle open and closed a few times to clear away any remaining ice fragments or moisture residue.
CAUTION
Before executing this ice-removal procedure, remove any rings, jewelry, or sharp objects that could scratch the vehicle paintwork, and never use metal tools or excessive force.
Do not strike the vehicle body too hard, as this can cause permanent panel dents. Apply a controlled force similar to knocking firmly on a wooden door.
Always keep your mechanical key accessible in case the vehicle 12V battery or smart key battery runs flat during cold weather.
