It is critically important to use the correct trailer hitch equipment on your Kia EV2. Strong crosswinds, turbulence from large passing trucks, and rough road surfaces are just a few reasons why having the right frame-mounted hitch is essential. Follow these mandatory rules:
If you have to make any mounting holes in the body structure of your vehicle when installing a custom trailer hitch, be sure to thoroughly seal and protect the holes against moisture and corrosion after you finish or remove the hitch.
The rear bumpers on your Kia EV2 are strictly not intended for supporting trailer hitches. Never attach rental hitches or other bumper-clamp style hitches. Only use a certified, heavy-duty frame-mounted hitch that connects directly to the vehicle chassis rather than the bumper.
Any part of the rear number plate or lighting assemblies of your Kia EV2 must not be obscured by the mechanical coupling device. If the license plate or rear lights can be partially blocked by any component of the hitch, coupling devices that cannot be easily removed or repositioned without tools—except for an easily operated release key requiring an effort not exceeding 20 Nm supplied by the manufacturer—are strictly prohibited. Note that any fitted mechanical coupling device not currently in use must always be removed or repositioned if it obstructs the rear registration plate or lighting.
An official Kia trailer hitch accessory engineered specifically for your vehicle is available for purchase at any authorised Kia dealer or service partner.
