1. Pull out the metal safety pin located at the top of the extinguisher handle that prevents accidental discharge.

2. Direct the discharge nozzle firmly towards the base of the fire rather than the flames.

3. Stand approximately 2.5 m (8 ft) away from the source of the fire and squeeze the operating handle to discharge the extinguishing agent. Releasing the handle will instantly pause the discharge.

4. Sweep the nozzle smoothly back and forth across the base of the fire until extinguished. Even after the fire appears completely out, monitor the area closely as it may re-ignite.
