Your Kia EV2 is engineered with advanced automated door locking and unlocking features designed to maximize both passenger safety and everyday operational convenience.
Impact sensing door unlock system
All cabin doors will automatically unlock if a severe collision impact causes the vehicle airbags to deploy while your Kia EV2 power system is active and not in the OFF position.
However, automatic unlocking may be inhibited if severe mechanical or electrical damage occurs to the door lock actuators or the vehicle battery circuit during the impact.
Speed sensing door lock system
To enhance cabin security while driving, all vehicle doors will lock automatically once your Kia EV2 exceeds a speed of 15 km/h (10 mph).
You can easily customize, activate, or deactivate these automatic door locking and unlocking preferences directly through your vehicle settings menu.
Auto lock enable on shift
When this configurable feature is selected on your instrument cluster or central infotainment display, all passenger doors will lock automatically the moment you shift out of P (Park) while the vehicle is running.
Auto unlock on shift to P
When this convenient option is enabled on your infotainment screen, all vehicle doors will unlock automatically as soon as you shift the transmission back into P (Park) while the vehicle remains POWER ON.
Auto unlock vehicle off
When this setting is active on your instrument cluster or infotainment system interface, all doors will unlock automatically the instant you turn your Kia EV2 power system OFF.
Automatic door lock and unlock features
Your vehicle features intelligent proximity automation that secures or unsecures your Kia EV2 based on your personal preferences configured within the infotainment display.
To activate the Approach Unlock system, navigate to Setup > Vehicle > Door > Auto unlock on approach on your infotainment display screen.
Walk up to the driver's side exterior door handle while carrying your authorized key.
The exterior door handle will automatically unlock and extend outward. The hazard warning lights will blink twice, and an audible warning chime will sound twice.
If you do not touch the integrated door lock sensor on the handle within approximately 2 seconds after the handle pops out, all doors will automatically re-lock, and the outside door handle will retract.
Deadlocks: (if equipped)
Certain vehicle trims are equipped with a high-security deadlock system.
Deadlocks completely disable the interior and exterior door release handles, preventing anyone from opening a door from either inside or outside once activated, providing an exceptional layer of vehicle security.
To engage the deadlock function, you must lock your Kia EV2 using the smart key fob.
To disengage the deadlocks and open the vehicle, you must use the smart key fob again.
