Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist disabled

When foreign material (such as snow or rain) covers the rear bumper near the rear corner radar or sensor, or when you install a trailer or carrier, it can reduce the detection performance and temporarily limit or disable Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist.

A warning message and the Master warning light () display on the instrument cluster. This does not indicate a permanent Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist malfunction.

Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist operates properly after you remove foreign material (such as snow or rain) from the sensor or obstructions (such as a trailer or carrier) from the rear bumper then restart the vehicle.

If Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist still does not operate properly after you remove foreign material (such as snow or rain) from the sensor or obstructions (such as a trailer or carrier) from the rear bumper, have your vehicle inspected by a professional workshop. Limitations of Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist

Your Kia EV2 is engineered with advanced driver assistance technologies, yet the Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist system may operate abnormally or unexpectedly under the following challenging circumstances:

• There is inclement weather, such as heavy snow or blinding rain.

• The detection sensor is covered with snow, rain, dirt, mud, and so on.

• The ambient temperature around the detection sensor is extremely high or low.

• The detection sensor is blocked whilst you drive near another vehicle, concrete pillar, or solid wall.

• You are driving on a highway ramp or passing through a tollgate.

• The pavement contains abnormally metallic components (such as heavy debris left from subway construction or railway tracks).

• There are fixed objects near the vehicle, such as sound barriers, guardrails, central dividers, entry barriers, street lights, road signs, tunnels, walls, and so on.

• You are driving on a narrow rural road with overgrown foliage brushing against the vehicle body.

• You are driving in wide open areas where there are few vehicles or reference structures.

• You are driving on a wet road surface with standing water.

• Other vehicles are moving very close behind you or passing you at close range.

• Other vehicles are moving at a very high speed when passing your Kia EV2.

• You actively pass another vehicle on the road.

• You execute a lane change maneuver.

• You and a vehicle next to you accelerate simultaneously.

• A vehicle in the next lane moves two lanes away from you, or a vehicle two lanes away suddenly moves to the adjacent lane.

• You have installed a trailer or external carrier near the rear corner radar.

• You cover the bumper near the rear corner radar with objects such as a bumper sticker, bike rack, or accessories.

• The bumper near the front or rear corner radar is structurally damaged, or the internal radar module is out of position.

• Your vehicle height is abnormally low or high due to heavy cargo loads, improper tyre pressure, and so on.

• Snow chains or replacement wheels of a different size are installed on the vehicle.

• The following specific objects are detected in your vicinity:

  • A motorcycle or bicycle.

  • A vehicle towing an open flat-bed trailer.

  • A large commercial vehicle, such as a bus or heavy truck.

  • A moving obstacle, such as a pedestrian, animal, shopping cart, or stroller.

  • A lower-profile vehicle such as a compact sports car.

Pay extra attention during your journey. Active braking control may not operate under the following conditions:

• The vehicle vibrates intensely whilst you drive over a severely bumpy road or deep pothole.

• You drive on an extremely slippery surface such as packed snow, standing water, or black ice.

• Tyre pressure is critically low or tyres are structurally damaged.

• The vehicle braking system has been modified from factory specifications.

• You steer abruptly or execute sudden evasive maneuvers.
