Kia EV2: Climate control system / System operation

Ventilation

1. Set the air intake to to optimize cabin air exchange and maintain a fresh environment inside your Kia EV2 during everyday driving conditions.

2. Set the air intake control to external air to continuously replenish the vehicle interior with clean outdoor airflow.

3. Set the temperature control to the desired position to achieve comfortable thermal conditions for all vehicle occupants.

4. Set the fan speed control to the desired speed to regulate the volume of circulating air flowing through the dashboard vents.

Heating

1. Set the mode to to direct warm air toward the lower footwell areas of the cabin.

2. Set the air intake control to external air to ensure efficient thermal circulation throughout the cabin.

3. Set the temperature control to the desired position to warm up the interior effectively during cold weather.

4. Set the fan speed control to the desired speed to manage airflow intensity.

5. For dehumidified heating, turn the air conditioning system on to extract excess moisture from the air.

   If the windscreen fogs up, set the mode to or to quickly clear your forward visibility.

Heating system operation tips

• To keep dust or unpleasant fumes from entering the vehicle through the ventilation system, temporarily set the air intake control to recirculated air. Be sure to return the control to external air intake when the irritation has passed to keep fresh air in the vehicle.

• The climate control system draws air through the grille just at the base of the windscreen. Ensure that the grille is not blocked by leaves, snow, ice, or other obstructions.

• To prevent fog from forming on the inside of the windscreen:

  • Set the air intake control to external and the fan speed to the desired position.

  • Turn on the air conditioning system and adjust the temperature control to the desired temperature.

Air conditioning (A/C)

Kia A/C systems inside modern vehicles like the Kia EV2 are filled with environmentally conscious R-134a or R-1234yf refrigerant.

1. Start the vehicle. Press the A/C button to activate compressor cooling.

2. Set the mode to to direct cooled air toward the upper body level.

3. Set the air intake control to external or recirculated depending on how fast you want the cabin to cool down.

4. Adjust the fan speed control and temperature control as desired to maintain ideal thermal comfort.

A/C system operation tips

• If the vehicle has been parked in direct sunlight during hot weather, open the windows for a short time to let the hot air inside the vehicle escape.

• To help reduce moisture inside the windows on rainy or humid days, decrease the humidity inside the vehicle by operating the air conditioning system.

• During air conditioning system operation, you may occasionally notice a slight change in the vehicle speed as the A/C compressor runs. This is normal.

• Run the A/C system for a few minutes each month to ensure optimal system performance.

• When using the A/C system, you may occasionally notice clear water dripping or puddling on the ground under the passenger side of the vehicle. This is normal.

• Operating the A/C system with the air intake set to recirculated provides maximum cooling, but continued operation with recirculated air may cause the air inside the vehicle to become stale.

• When using the A/C system, you may occasionally notice a misty air flow because of rapid cooling of humid air intake. This is normal.
