  1. Check Driver Assistance system

When Smart Cruise Control is not working properly, the Master warning light (Kia EV2 master warning light icon on the instrument panel) appears on the instrument cluster, along with a warning message that lasts for several seconds. Have your vehicle inspected by a professional workshop. Kia recommends visiting an authorised Kia dealer or service partner to ensure your Kia EV2 maintains peak performance and safety standards.

Smart Cruise Control disabled

Kia EV2 dashboard screen indicating that the driver assistance system is limited due to a blocked radar
  1. Driver Assistance system limited. Radar blocked.

When foreign material (such as heavy snow, accumulated ice, or driving rain) covers the front radar cover or sensor area on your Kia EV2, it can significantly reduce detection performance and temporarily limit or completely disable Smart Cruise Control.

A warning message and the Master warning light (Kia EV2 master warning light icon) display on the instrument cluster (and turn off after a certain period). This does not indicate a permanent hardware malfunction of Smart Cruise Control.

Smart Cruise Control operates properly once you safely remove foreign materials (such as snow, mud, or debris) from the sensor surface. Always keep the sensor area clean to ensure uninterrupted driving assistance.

TIP

Even when an explicit warning message does not appear on the instrument cluster, Smart Cruise Control may temporarily experience reduced operational capability if sensors are partially obstructed.

TIP

Smart Cruise Control may not operate properly in an open flat area where there are no surrounding objects for the radar to detect, or when foreign material covers the detection sensor immediately after you power your Kia EV2 ON.

NOTE

You can check the active Smart Cruise Control status at any time by reviewing the service messages within the utility information view of your Kia EV2 instrument cluster display window.
