The Plug & Charge feature allows for faster and more convenient vehicle charging by automatically billing when you use DC chargers with your Kia EV2.

Setting Plug & Charge

  1. Plug & Charge

To enable the Plug & Charge feature for automatic billing during DC charging, tap EV > EV Settings > Plug & Charge on the infotainment system screen and enable Plug & Charge.

NOTE

If you haven’t signed a contract, keeping the Plug & Charge feature turned off is advisable. Using the Plug & Charge feature without a contract might lead to issues during charging.

Renew the Plug & Charge

If Plug & Charge isn’t working or fails during charging, check your contract certificate’s expiration and renewal status.

  • the certificate is expired, charging with automatic billing charging does not proceed.

  • Turn off the Plug & Charge feature until you confirm the certificate status. If automatic billing fails twice, external payment will be used on the third attempt.

After the payment method changes to external, you can re-enable the Plug & Charge feature and use the automatic billing charging function with one of the following methods:

  • After completing one charging session using external payment, you can use the Plug & Charge automatic billing method for the next session.

  • Disconnect the charging connector, close the charging door, and leave the vehicle in READY mode for over a minute. Then you can start charging with Plug & Charge.

  • Use a different charger that supports the Plug & Charge feature.

If the contract certificate for Plug & Charge charging expires or is revoked, follow these steps:

  1. Sign a new contract to issue or renew the certificate.
  2. Connect the charging connector and attempt Plug & Charge charging once.

    The charger displays the expiration date and revocation status of the certificate and fails to charge.

  3. Disconnect and reconnect the charging connector, then attempt charging with Plug & Charge again.

    Once you install the certificate for the new contract, charging with Plug & Charge proceeds normally.

Managing Plug & Charge Contracts

When you install a contract certificate whilst charging with Plug & Charge, the contract management menu in the Plug & Charge settings screen activates. To review and manage contract information:

  1. Tap EV > EV Settings > Plug & Charge to open the Contract Management menu.
  2. Review the displayed contract information and expiration date (year and month).
  3. If necessary, tap Delete to remove a contract certificate.
