You can securely attach cargo loads and transportation accessories directly to the roof rack framework or utilize genuine Kia crossbars available through any authorized dealership.

TIP

• Always adjust and position the crossbars (if equipped) into their designated load-carrying locations before placing any heavy items onto the Kia EV2 roof rack.

• When you are not utilizing the roof rack to haul equipment or luggage, consider removing or repositioning the crossbars if you begin to notice aerodynamic wind noise at higher cruising speeds.

NOTE

• When hauling cargo on your Kia EV2 roof rack, always ensure that the equipment or securing straps do not scratch, dent, or damage the painted sheet metal of the roof.

• When transporting oversized objects, verify that they do not overhang or exceed the overall length and width dimensions of the vehicle roof.

Load limits

The robust Kia EV2 roof rack can safely support up to 100 kg (220 lbs.) of evenly distributed weight (balanced across both sides and front-to-back), but this maximum limit applies strictly when the vehicle is parked.

Never drive your vehicle on public roads with more than 100 kg (220 lbs.) of total cargo and accessories loaded onto the roof racks.

Always ensure that the combined weight of all cabin occupants, interior luggage, and roof cargo never exceeds the specified Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of your Kia EV2.

WARNING

• Never drive your Kia EV2 when the total combined weight of passengers and cargo surpasses the GVWR threshold, as overloading severely compromises steering response and can cause a dangerous loss of vehicle control.

• Carrying heavy loads on the roof rack raises the center of gravity of your Kia EV2, significantly altering vehicle handling dynamics. Avoid sudden acceleration, harsh braking, sharp cornering, and excessive speeds that could provoke a rollover or loss of control.

• Drive at reduced speeds and navigate turns with extreme caution whenever you have items mounted on the roof. Passing heavy vehicles or strong crosswinds can generate powerful aerodynamic updrafts, putting sudden upward pressure on large, flat cargo items like wood sheets or mattresses, potentially tearing them free and endangering surrounding motorists.

• Exceeding the designated weight limits can permanently warp or damage the Kia EV2 roof rack mounting points.

• Overloading the vehicle structure beyond safe thresholds can cause mechanical failure.

Securing items to the roof rack

Plan your transport setup thoroughly before attempting to load equipment onto your Kia EV2. Make sure you possess high-quality straps, nets, and securement hardware, and enlist assistance from someone nearby if needed.

Verify that your cargo and accessories do not protrude excessively forward over the hood, backward over the tailgate, or outward past the sides of the vehicle.

Ensure that loaded items never obstruct your forward line of sight through the windscreen, block the front driver assistance camera, or obscure the high-mounted rear brake light.

Always comply with local traffic laws regarding warning flags and lights for cargo extending past the rear bumper of your vehicle.

Account for aerodynamic wind forces acting on roof cargo while driving at speed. Flexible items like mattresses can flex under wind pressure. Turbulence from passing trucks or weather fronts can create sudden lift forces, damaging straps, bending crossbars, causing driver distraction, and risking a loss of vehicle control.

Always park your Kia EV2 on flat, solid ground, shift the transmission into Park (P), and engage the electronic parking brake firmly before loading or tying down equipment.

If your cargo is wrapped in a protective tarp or cover, make sure it is tightly buckled down so it cannot flap loosely or tear away while driving.

• Never move or drive the vehicle while anyone is inside the roof tent.

• Never operate fuel-burning combustion engines (such as portable generators), gas stoves, propane lanterns, or similar appliances inside or immediately adjacent to an occupied roof tent or awning. These devices release lethal carbon monoxide gas, which is completely colorless, odorless, and deadly.
