Operating order
The advanced Remote Operation feature in your modern Kia EV2 functions systematically through precise sequential stages:
Getting ready to remotely move forward and backward
Remotely moving forward and backward
1. Getting ready to remotely move forward and backward
There are two distinct ways to prepare and activate the Remote Operation function on your Kia EV2 depending on your immediate parking environment.
Method (1): Using the function with vehicle off
|
|
For more comprehensive details on remotely starting the Kia EV2, refer to the Keys section of the manual.
Method (2): Using the function with vehicle on
|
|
1. Leave the vehicle with your key securely in hand and close all doors completely.
2. Press and hold the designated parking button on the Smart Key to initialize.
Park the Kia EV2 cleanly in front of the tight space where you intend to utilize the Remote Operation function, and shift the gear selector firmly into P (Park).
Press and hold the Parking/View (
) button to turn on Smart Parking Assist. A clear message indicating Under REMOTE control will appear on the infotainment system screen.
Get out of the vehicle carrying your smart key and ensure all doors are fully closed.
NOTE
You must select Agree on the infotainment system screen and the system must operate properly for the Remote Operation function to work seamlessly in your Kia EV2.
Before starting to move the Kia EV2 using the Remote Forward/Reverse function from the outside, make sure no Smart Key or Digital Key is accidentally left inside. If a spare key remains inside, the function will refuse to operate for safety reasons.
2. Remote Operation
|
Method (1): Using the Smart key
Press and hold either the Forward (
) or Backward (
) button on your smart key.
The Remote Smart Parking Assist system will automatically control the steering wheel, vehicle speed, and gear shifting, ensuring the Kia EV2 moves precisely in the direction of the button pressed.
Whilst the Remote Operation function is active, releasing the button will cause the Kia EV2 to immediately stop and pause control. Movement will resume instantly once the button is pressed and held down again.
Hold down the Forward (
) or Backward (
) button continuously until the Kia EV2 reaches your exact target location.
When remote maneuvering is complete, get inside the Kia EV2 with your smart key or press the Remote Start (
) button on the key from the outside.
A confirmation message will appear on the infotainment screen, and the Kia EV2 will automatically shift into P (Park) while engaging the electronic parking brake.
When the Remote Start (
) button is pressed, the vehicle will turn off completely. If the driver is already seated inside, the Kia EV2 will retain the ON position.
Method (2): Using the Digital key
Swipe the vehicle icon in your preferred direction on the Remote Forward/Backward smartphone screen to command the Kia EV2.
While the icon is actively swiped, Remote Smart Parking Assist manages steering, gear shifts, and vehicle speed autonomously, mirroring the directional swipe on your Digital Key interface.
Releasing your finger during the maneuver will temporarily halt the Kia EV2. Simply swipe and hold again to resume movement.
Maintain the swipe action on the Digital Key interface until the Kia EV2 successfully reaches the desired stopping position.
After the remote sequence finishes, board the Kia EV2 or press the Exit option on your digital device.
A completion prompt appears on the dashboard screen, prompting the system to shift into P (Park) and apply the Electronic Parking Brake (EPB).
Pressing the exit action powers down the Kia EV2, whereas boarding keeps the electronic systems active.
NOTE
Remote Operation allows you to steer and drive your Kia EV2 from the outside using either the physical smart key or your smartphone's digital key.
Always verify that all authorized smart keys or digital keys are kept outside the Kia EV2 cabin during remote operations.
Signal reception ranges for keys can fluctuate due to local environmental interference from radio towers, transmission stations, or dense structures.
When initiating forward movement via method (1), the Kia EV2 treats it as an exit maneuver, moving forward 4 m (13 ft.) while scanning for nearby pedestrians, pets, or obstacles before adjusting steering.
When moving forward using method (2), the system handles it as a direct parking maneuver, immediately adjusting steering angles to align with the parking slot, though performance can vary based on surrounding shapes and objects.
For reverse maneuvers, both methods align the steering geometry first and then guide the Kia EV2 in a straight backward path.
WARNING
Ensure every passenger has completely exited the Kia EV2 before engaging any Remote Operation features.
Always close windows and sunroofs, turn off the ignition completely, and lock the doors before walking away from your Kia EV2.
If the 12V battery is depleted or the parking assist hardware encounters a fault, remote features will be disabled. Always park your Kia EV2 in spaces that allow comfortable manual entry and exit when necessary.
Depending on tight architectural layouts, you might not always be able to reverse out of a space using remote controls alone.
Shifting traffic or environmental changes around your parked Kia EV2 can obstruct sensors and temporarily restrict remote functionality.
