Kia EV2: Climate control system / Checking the amount of air conditioner (A/C) refrigerant and compressor lubricant

Kia EV2 (QV1, 2026-2026) Owner's Manual / Controls and Features / Climate control system / Checking the amount of air conditioner (A/C) refrigerant and compressor lubricant

Low refrigerant levels will noticeably reduce the cooling efficiency and overall performance of your A/C system. Conversely, overfilling the refrigerant circuit creates excessive internal pressure that also adversely impacts the A/C system.

If you notice any abnormal operation, reduced cooling output, or unusual noises, have your vehicle inspected immediately by a professional workshop. Kia recommends visiting an authorised Kia dealer or service partner.

DANGER

The oil and refrigerant contained within your Kia EV2 climate control system are maintained under extremely high pressure. If proper service procedures and specialized recovery equipment are not strictly followed, a catastrophic component failure or explosion may result. To eliminate the risk of serious personal injury or fatality, the A/C system in your vehicle must only be serviced by factory-trained and certified Kia technicians.

WARNING

Because the refrigerant is pressurized at high levels, the air conditioning system must exclusively be serviced by trained and certified professionals. It is critical that the precise type and exact measured amount of compressor oil and refrigerant are utilized during any maintenance procedure.

Failing to follow these guidelines may cause severe damage to the vehicle's electrical and mechanical components along with dangerous personal injury.

WARNING

It is vital that you use only the correct specified grade and exact quantity of oil and refrigerant. Always reclaim all refrigerants using certified recycling equipment. Venting automotive refrigerants directly into the atmosphere poses severe health hazards to individuals and causes environmental damage. Failure to heed these explicit safety warnings can lead to serious injuries.

NOTE

Using the correct type and precise amount of compressor oil and refrigerant is mandatory for long-term reliability. Otherwise, permanent damage to the vehicle can occur. To prevent costly equipment failures, the A/C system in your Kia EV2 should only be serviced by trained and certified technicians.
